I'm there for nurses! I owe my life to nurses. When I was dying of Pulmonary Fibrosis at Toronto General Hospital six years ago, it was the nurses constantly at my side taking care of my needs, both men and women, who were my greatest comfort. I am very grateful and very thankful to nurses. They will always have a special place in my heart.

I have been fortunate and did not require the services of nurses in a hospital until I had my heart attack w years ago. It was then that I fully appreciated the professionalism and passion that nurses provide. I called them my angels because they were there when I needed them. Thank you.

Kudos to you Rick! I have been a nurse for 27 years and we so seldom get positive recognition. After all, we are human too. I have cried with many of my patients as I hold their hands. We see people at their most vulnerable stage in their lives and every day I go to work, I give each of my patients a piece of my heart. Thank you...Peggy

In Cape Breton, being a nurse is like being a nun. Totally selfless work for little pay. I have two nurses in my family, in Cape Breton. One retired, and her daughter is close to retirement. In every profession there are good and bad people. Some nurses shouldn't be nurses. And some nurses should be worshipped as living saints. The nurses of Toronto were totally instrumental in cracking the SARS virus. Not the WHO, those gutless fearmongers. WHO was completely absent from THAT lab.

Now there aren't any nurses to replace them. Hospitals in the gta are a travesty and the province has done nothing in the past two years of the pandemic to bolster nurses's efforts or encouraged retention. I feel so, so sorry for those nurses in a horribly ungrateful workplace.

How about Paramedics? :( The front line workers who don't have the luxury of a well lit emergency and diagnostic equipment guided by the expertise of Physicians and Surgeons. We drive, wear, use and lift tools supplied by the lowest bidder and it took months to have Emergency Services to be trained for Ebola preparation. We don't get any recognition or support on anyy hindrance that prevents us from doing our jobs safely? Boo :( lol Ps I love nurses and what they do :)

As much as I admire doctors, I've always admired the nurses more. Yes, the doctors did treat me when I was last in the hospital and are a big reason I'm alive right now for which I'm beyond grateful. However, I only ever saw them for five minutes in the morning as they did their rounds while it was the nurses who cared for me, helping me to manage the pain and did their best to be sure I was comfortable. I've seen them deal with things in regards to other patients that many people would not have the stomach or the patience for. They deserve every bit of appreciation and respect that they can get.

I couldn't agree more with you Rick. I have been in the hospital for surgery a number of years ago and these hard working professionals totally amazed me. One thing I wish you had touched on was legislation that takes away their right to vote, for the union, they want to represent them. This happened in Nova Scotia this past September. Very unfair to these hardworking people.

Here we are 8 years later, during covid, those same nurses were doing tik tok videos dancing in empty hospital during yet another Plandemic, because Ebola never came! Today, new graduate nurse at least in our local hospital wait for the next shift to change a patient that’s been sitting in their poop from the morning. It’s play pass the buck to the next shift. What happened to the caring compassionate nurses of days gone by?
