So I compare this car to our BMW i4 and to Polestar 2 because of the German build (ok Polestar is Chinese), upscale demographic (for VW), and that massive rear hatch adding real practicality, especially if you fold those rear seats. What do others think? Ioniq 6 and Tesla Model 3 failed with sedan trunks.
@HanYou2

I am a practical person and I feel like a hatch is a must for me. This definitely ticks that box but it doesn't mean everyone needs it. If it wasn't for the hatch, at the price I would consider a model 3 but not much else. eqe, eqs, i4 and i5 are too expensive, the ioniq 6 is also a good alternative but much less room....and there are not many other competitors in the sedan sector. So for me it's the best and I'll probably get it once the big battery version comes out

Of course I'm a subscriber with bells on, Eilis and team, thank you for making my birthday special (you didn't know that, did you ...) the only two things stopping me from getting another e-bike are the weather, the hills in Shrewsbury and the sad fact that most of them have a lower max rider weight. But I digress... Eilis, I really think that after many years, @matwatsoncars has finally met his match and some. Your performance as a car reviewer is stellar, the humour with the vehicle features, the scratchy ASMR (like on the Ioniq 5 test drive) ... I will not be surprised when Porsche calls you to loan you a Taycan as a daily. Which will come with a difficult decision -- can you be an automotive journalist on a bike? Fun fact, Mat Watson bought a GoCycle 3 years ago for £3000 ... ah, inflation ... (PS, it's another thing I really like about this channel, when something is too expensive, you call them out!)

While it's important to know battery size, charge rate and range, we need more data and results from the real world, revealing the conditions you drive under. I have a BYD that boasts 480 kms of range but, as you can see by my road trip video, it wasn't safe to go 320 kms. Around town it falls short by 80 kms and you can wipe off another 80 kms when the speeds are over 100 kph. You say that one does 600 kms (smaller battery model)? I would like you to get it back and drive on the highways until it's almost out of charge, and tell us how far shy of 600 it was? You could have used the trip computer; worked out the efficiency and projected range and told us your average speed. That would have improved the information greatly, even if you couldn't tour it. Charging speed were also overstated by a country mile on the BYD, and real-world charging speeds should be given for all test drives. I hope that helps for future reports? BTW, VW is really dragging the chain in Aus - they don't expect to bring out any EV until the end of 2024.

@aussieideasman8498
10 ай бұрын
@@FFVoyager Good question. I used to tour my Citroen C5, and it would estimate under 900 kms when the tank was filled, due to all the town driving prior. As I headed south, by the time I got to Tweed Heads, about 100 kms away, it would stop climbing and read 1,400 kms of range. Then it would go down from there, and only do 1,300 of that, but it had already done that 100 while increasing the readout. I estimate my BYD in four charges and less than that same distance would have estimated over 1,900 kms of range and done under 1,300. I used to fill up once in about five minutes and get to Melbourne in just under 20 hours. The BYD took 36. Need anything else cleared up?

I was watching a video on Tesla and the movements in the market -- Tesla lowered their prices on the Model 3 (to clear the order books ahead of the new model, I presume) but are experimenting with increasing the price of the Model Y. However, the Model 3 Highland starting price is lower (in some markets) than an ID.3 Pro ... which belongs to a lower segment. So you may well be right, I woulnd't say "a tumble" but when the mother of all Model Y will arrive tu rule the roost (biggest selling units worldwide, dethroning the Toyota Corolla) every manufacturer with cars of a similar size and prices above 55k (looking at you, Kia and Genesis ...) will have to include a slice of humble pie if they want to sell cars.

@@Alessandro--- personally thinking that’s just the tip of the iceberg , looking at the bigger picture there’s many more problems in regards to the electric car industry than just the fact it happens to be an electric car , be it price or size or changing or the price for charging or the availability of charging or the infrastructure of charging obviously not forgetting the pending recession or the demise of current economic downturn, many factors involved, I think more people are coming to realise it is no longer a form of transport but is very expensive pain and something that will lose a lot of money in the long run, of course I could be wrong it’s bound to happen one day.
