A road trip from Bangalore to Bekal. The route was very scenic. From Bangalore we took the Nice Ring Road and took the Mysuru exit for the new Mysuru highway. In Mysore we took a breakfast break in Hotel Gandhadagudi(location link below). After the breakfast we hit the road and drove through the scenic mountain roads of Coorg. On the way we stopped at the Abbikolli Waterfall (location link below).
Bekal is a small town in the Kasaragod district on the West Coast of the state of Kerala, India. Bekal is famous for its serene beaches, backwaters, temples and preserved forts.
We stayed in The Lalit Resort & Spa Bekal. Located in Kasaragod, the resort is surrounded by the river Nombili and has an internal lagoon overlooking a white sand beach. They have a private entry to the beach. The resort is quite a big property with a lot of open spaces, spacious rooms and a lot of greenery.
During our stay we visited the Bekal Fort, the largest fort in Kerala spreading over 40 acres. It is adjacent to the beach and offers a view of the Arabian Sea from its tall observation towers. It was built in 1650 AD, at Bekal. We spotted a lot of peacocks in the fort area.
