Scotland as a country is easy to fall in love with. Thousands of visitors every year will testify to that. And it's not just Scots who love to wax lyrical about this incredible country.
In fact, over the generations, philosophers, writers, actors, and politicians have all taken the time to exclaim their love for Scotland.
Everyone from famous Scots like Billy Connolly and Sean Connery and historical figures like Benjamin Franklin and Winston Churchill have been recorded gushing about this wonderful little nation.
In this short episode of road trip to Scotland. We are still in Edinburgh. We drove from Duddingston to Leith
Nestled at the base of the eastern side of Holyrood Park, behind Arthur’s Seat, is the charming and historic former village of Duddingston. The neighbourhood is one of the oldest in Edinburgh, with some buildings dating back to the 12th century. Despite its history and being within walking distance from the city centre, it often suffers from a case of ‘out of sight, out of mind’, and is overlooked by both visitors and locals.
On the other hand, this may have helped Duddingston retain its more rural village atmosphere, unlike other Edinburgh neighbourhoods like Morningside or Stockbridge. In my opinion, Duddingston Village is the perfect location for a short-day trip without travelling too far.
Whereas Leith is an area like no other. Boasting its own distinct character, Leith is a hub of lively eating and drinking spots, creativity, and cultural diversity.
The district of Leith rests on the shores of the Firth of Forth, at the mouth of the Water of Leith. Having served as the port of Edinburgh for hundreds of years, the area’s original harbour dates back to the 14th century and has been visited by many travelling kings and queens, including Mary Queen of Scots and King George IV.
Today, Leith is a vivacious area jam-packed with delicious delis, chic drinking spots, and top restaurants boasting some of Scotland’s finest chefs. The district asserts a jovial attitude and hosts an eclectic mix of people and cultures, making each a visit a unique experience.
I think we need to stop here for now and let you enjoy the video.
We are preparing to release another episode shortly. So enjoy
