Hey wanderlust warriors!
Welcome to the channel…. This mini-adventure is packed with sights, sounds, and maybe even a taste of the unexpected. Stay tuned as we explore the heart of Namanga border town, uncover some of the hidden gems, and see what makes Namanga tick!
1. Nairobi to Namanga is approximately 164 kilometres.
2. The drive takes about 2-3 hours depending on traffic.
3. The road from Nairobi to Namanga is generally well-maintained, though there can be some potholes at some section.
4. Traffic can be busy, especially between Mlolongo and Kitengela. Be prepared for some slowdowns or you can opt to leave early.
5. Our first stop was Kitengela….. a town known for its delicious nyama choma.
6. After a delicious nyama choma feast, we set our sights on the Kenyan frontier - Namanga! Here we come!
7. One cannot cross the border into Tanzania without the proper documentation like a valid passport, a yellow fever vaccination certificate, and car insurance that is valid in Tanzania. However, the Namanga Boader post caters to people who want to quickly cross over for shopping or a meal.
8. There is a popular lounge called the Rooftop Lounge… located just after the border crossing in Tanzania; the lounge offers stunning views of the surrounding area and this was a good alternative.
9. Just a quick hop across the border, and we're back in Kenya! Feels good to be home, even if it was just a short visit to Tanzania.
