I'm so glad to see you finally listen to Infected Rain! They're one of my favorite bands; not only are they an excellent band with a very unique sound, but on a personal level, their music got me through some really tough times. A few years ago, when I first heard this band, my mental health was really terrible. Honestly, the problems had been there my whole life, but it was around 2019 that it came to a head. I felt lost, empty; like I didn't belong in my own body. I began to realize that not only was there a disconnect between my sense of self and my lived experience, but that disconnect was so severe and had been there for so long that I felt like I didn't even know who I was; I was just going through the motions, like a hollow shell of a person. I was utterly miserable. Then I heard Infected Rain. Something in their music spoke to me on a deep, primal level. A lot of the lyrics mirrored my feelings of emptiness and uncertainty of self, but more than that, the music itself resonated with something deep within me. I honestly couldn't tell you what it was about it - I'm sure Lena's vocals were a significant part of the effect, though - but it somehow connected to the pain I felt, amplified it, and drew it up out of me. Putting on _Embrace Eternity_ and listening to the whole album in one sitting was one of the rawest, most cathartic experiences of my life. Their music was healing for me, in a strange, backwards way. It didn't make my pain lesser; it drew it up to the surface and made me feel it with such clarity that I could finally begin to understand what it _was,_ and that was the first step towards actually dealing with it. I'm in a much better place now. I realized _why_ I had felt so lost all my life. I came out as transgender. I found who I was, and what that means. I've reached the point where I can look in the mirror and see myself instead of a stranger. For the first time I can remember, I'm truly, properly happy. I've not listened to Infected Rain as much lately as I did a couple years ago. That pain is still recent enough that I'm hesitant to revisit it quite yet, and my newfound love for life has made me more drawn to more lighthearted, optimistic bands like Feuerschwanz this past year. But I feel like I owe Infected Rain a lot. They saw me through some of the darkest times of my life. Their music helped me to understand myself and move forwards to a better stage of my life. And I am _definitely_ looking forward to their new album! ...heh, sorry for just coming in here and dumping my whole life's story out like that. I know nobody asked, but this band meant so much to me; I had to share. I'd certainly love to see you react to more Infected Rain! If you're looking for suggestions on which of their songs to listen to next: _Taphephobia_ and _Orphan Soul_ definitely spring to mind.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to sit down and type out all your thoughts on here. And second, thank you for being so brave and honest and sharing all of that. This is one of the things I love most about music: no matter what kind of stuff we're all going through in our lives, there's something out there that can help get us through it. While I feel like I've never gone through something like you have, I also have some music that's helped me through some very difficult situations in my life. I honestly hope someone in the band sees your comment sometime. The most important thing is to be YOU, no matter what. It is impossible for any one person on the planet to please and be accepted by everyone. But at the end of the day, we can't control what people think about us anyways, so why worry about it? Being comfortable in your own skin is the most important thing to do for ourselves, and it's so amazing to hear that Infected Rain could help you do that!

@@TankTheTech Music really is something wonderful. I think you're right; no matter who you are or what you're going through, there's some piece of music out there that can help you through it. I truly hope that everyone has a chance to hear the music that they need. I was honestly very hesitant to actually post my comment. Baring your soul on the internet is always a risky thing to do (especially if you happen to be part of a widely-persecuted minority), but I'm glad I did. As you say, being true to yourself is the most important thing!

I only just started listening to IR about 7 months ago and saw them in concert (with a meet&greet) this September when they were touring with Butcher Babies (another new band for me this year). Lena is probably one of the greatest human beings I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She has her own youtube channel called "Bananas" which is worth a look. Seeing them LIVE was awesome. The energy the entire band had was incredible throughout the entire show and Lena live...she blows you away. She has the sweetest voice/accent but when she gets to screaming she's a beast. Not as heavy as Tatiana, but she has we own style which took getting used to. I put her somewhere between Alissa (Arch Enemy) and Courtney (Spiritbox). And I just LOVE the tone of her cleans, sometimes sounds out of tune but when you get used to it it's magic. My travel down the IR rabbit hole started with a video of Lena and Tatiana doing an IR song called "Me Against You". That lead me to other IR songs as well as her Bananas channel. "Me Against You" and "Orphan Soul" are my 2 favorite songs. Definitely check out the lyrics for the songs. There is so much meaning behind them (but you know that already). Thanks for the reaction. Good to see a reactor with a sizable following finally give this band some exposure.

A lot of Infected Rain’s songs are growers to be honest. I like the way they tend to stay away from formulaic, chuggy, riff only metal and do quite a lot of ambient build ups and dissonant bridges. Their most instantly accessible single is probably Orphan Soul - the lyrics on that one are devastating and hint at a pretty miserable childhood for whoever wrote the song followed by a defiant resurrection as a confident adult. The one take video of Lena singing Taphephobia is also a great intro into her remarkable vocals and how she can switch from that really caustic, distinctive distortion into gorgeous, almost choral cleans

Lena from Infected Rain has grown into quite the formidable alternative model on Instagram, and also has a pretty cool KZitem channel called 'Bananas' where you get a lot of behind the scenes into her life as a singer & model, tattoos, growing up in Moldova, and much more. There are also some early Infected Rain live clips on KZitem that feature Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer singing on stage with Lena & Infected Rain as the early touring circuit for both bands overlapped and Lena & Tatiana were friends (Moldova shares a border with Ukraine).

I been a fan of them for over 10 yrs. I actually found them around the same time in 2010 when I found Jinjer and I have been a fan of both bands since then. As you probably can hear when/ if you listen to their older songs she is very influenced by Otep and it is more obvious in their older songs. Things changed and her voice changed around 2013 when she started with Cross, either way she have a wide range but not like Tati in Jinjer however I do love her voice and I do honestly like their older stuff more then their last stuff. Great band and they are awesome live band!

15:25 - that's actually how human brain works, you listen to something, watch something a lot and as long as it doesn't hurt you and stuff like that you'll start accepting it. Not necessarily loving, but you learn how to appreciate things and already can see its beauty. I've noticed experiencing this actually. At first something kinda looks like too much but then when you see/listen a lot of it (not the same thing though, but similar things) you start understanding what's supposed to be good about it, accepting it. That's why I believe that every taste is acquired and people should be open minded to different forms of art.

I love Lena's voice as well. Quite unique both clean and harsh. I really loved this song the first time I heard it because of he clean section Tank pointed out. It's got a bit of classic darkwave to my ear, with the processing they chose to enhance Lena's voice and the way the music stripped down. Or maybe a bit of metal added into Love Spirals Downwards or some other female lead band you might find on Nettwerk or Projekt in the 90s.
