A Delicious Treat
It often just takes one good thing to light up a person's day. For many, it could be the delicious roast duck that is easily found throughout Malaysia, whether on the roadside or in restaurants.
Roast duck has become a popular dish in Malaysia, that it is featured on almost every roast meats establishment. Not only are they a common sight in coffee shop stalls and restaurants, what's particularly interesting about roast duck is that it is frequently found along road side stalls, which sell nothing but roast duck, whether whole or in pieces. Some of these road side stalls are extended from the operator's houses, while other vendors even have their own specialty van just to sell the dish!
There are a few methods to roast duck, and most vendors either use gas or charcoal. The ducks are usually roasted beforehand and brought to the stall, then hung up for the hungry customers to choose. The merchant will take and prepare the duck according to orders.
Unlike other roast meats such as char siew or roast chicken, roast duck places a rather large importance on the sauce. The sauce is perhaps the biggest differentiator between the numerous roast duck sellers across Malaysia-their business can sometimes solely depend just on the quality of the accompanying sauce.
