It’s us keeping the tracks clear picking up rubbish saving stuck tourists and helping out injured wildlife while the people in power lock up the bush from their offices and do nothing. About thirty years ago I located a lost rider in the hills behind Glenreagh in northern NSW at night on a 1971 Hodaka Ace 100 with a Dolphin torch taped to it's front guard The fella had come off his bike and broken the top bone in his leg he was up there for eight hours and it was pouring rain for some of that time I left a torch with him and went back down and explained where he was to another fella in a four-wheel drive who went up and recovered him

Fair dinkum mate he’s lucky you came along , good job .just leaving a trip plan with a mate is often enough to narrow down a search area and timeframe for rescues. Funny how often luck comes into play too aye nice to hear from you mate cheers

@@tazyt3388 I was sent out to look for him On the day I had been at Grafton removing the leaf springs from an old EK Holden van that had being laying on the ground for years and it was an all day effort to remove them, it poured rain at some point while I was under the EK and the same rain also got the lost rider as he was laying in pain in the scrub, when I eventually got back to Glenreagh nobody was at my place or at that fella's place so I've gone out to where some mutual friends lived at an old farm at the foot of the hills and my ex-wife and the fellas wife and others were there and told me he'd ridden into the bush 8 hours before and hadn't come back I would ride up there regularly and was the only person who had any idea what area he may be in I would keep the Hodaka dirt bike out there just as soon as take it home and it was there at the time so as I said I taped the Dolphin torch I kept in my FC van to the Hodaka's mudguard to improvise a headlight and took another torch to leave with him once I found him This was before the common use of mobile phones or I might have been contacted and come back earlier

All you need for a bush winch is a rope and 2 stout sticks, Make a s bend in the middle of the rope. Use one stick to hook the rope around the winch drum and lever.. and use the other stick as a winch drum Also known as a broom handle windlass. Make sure you use stout sticks I winched a Toyota coaster several meters like this when I was a 10 year old kid.
