This instrument is basically a Pipe Melodica. The Pipes act as resonators mellowing out the tone.

It's more than just that. It's using a slightly different kind of reed, the kind used in instruments such as the sheng.

I have been in love with this instrument for so long and I know it is very expensive but I think I could maybe make it myself with some friends help but do you think you could make a video with more details about how it works? I think it's amazing and the sound is lovely

It sounds like that because those tubes are tuned, their resonant frequency is the note frequency. That means they resonate and thus vibrate and create their own sound. The tubes also greatly emphasize the fundamental frequency of each reed.

Incredible sound - sounding somewhat like east/southeast Asian free reed pipes (bawu, khaen, sheng) Also intense nostalgia in that it sounds like the synth used in the early days ringo starr Thomas the tank engine music

Well, it is Hybrid between Melodica and Blues Harp. But the Sounds is more between a Flute and a Clarinet. Very cool 😎👍

Based on the sound, I'd guess it's using East Asian style free-reeds, making this something akin to the sheng, but with a piano keyboard.

Do you still have it? If you are looking to get rid of it, I'll buy it from you. I am located in the United States but I know someone who lives nearby in the Netherlands who would pick it up if you do not want to bother shipping internationally. Let me know.

Now they’re making acoustic instruments to imitate electronic ones! What will they think of before?!
