The way I see it, Jan gassed himself out trying to get the submission in round 1, and by round 3, his strikes didn't have enough power to hurt Alex. Jan was putting together combos landed, and you’re just like not much damage Pereira’s moving and rolling. Come on bro. You showed text of the criteria for a 10-8 in that video and it looks to me like it would fit here. Jan had Peirera in much more dangerous position than Ank had him too.

Ankalaev nearly TKO’d Jan on the ground. Jan’s submission attempts weren’t that close. Alex also was credited for a submission attempt on top of it. That was in no way a 10-8.

I just rewatched R5 and at no point did Ank ''nearly tko'' Jan. Most of his shots were hitting the gloves and those that got through didn't do anything significant. At one point Rogan says ''Ankalaev could finish him here if he continues this barrage'' However, Ank did not continue said barrage and said barrage was all blocked anyway. Jan came closer to finishing Alex with a sub than Ank did with tko. That said, I did forget about Aex's sub attempt at the beginning. But I still think a discussion can be had for a 10-8.

I rewatched that 3rd round many times. And even slow motion video breakdowns. Both Jan and Periera had 30 strikes all just pure stand up. Jan however had way more headstrikes. Even if Jan was tired he was still landing. So even in stand up Jan should have had the edge and that was before the takedown. That takedown at the end with Jan landing gnp should have at least sealed that round. And I watched this fight in silence without commentary and I thought this was what happened first time watching. Close striking numbers with Jan more headstrikes and Jan getting the takedown at the end. When I was reading people saying Alex was outstriking him in the 3rd, I was like wth are people even talking about. Then I listened to the commentary booth of UFC and Im like oh thats why. These guys just suck up to any Glory Kickboxer thinking just because the Glory Kickboxer is standing there eating shots and looking confident, hes winning the round just cuz the fights taking place standing? They even counted blocked/checked strikes as strikes for Alex. Horrid decision. Note to future kickboxers coming to UFC: just look confident standing, eat a bunch of head strikes and land some body jabs and leg kicks. You'll win the fight. The commentary will suck up to you as long as the fight stays standing. No matter who is landing, the commentary will automatically assume the kickboxer is winning a stand up battle. So glory kickboxers just need to have a good chin, take head punches, and just land some body strikes to win.
@ArnaudHetu92
Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Jan wasn't just ''avoiding'' the encounter by going on the ground, he litteraly came very close to actively submit Alex. Jan then managed to go through the whole third round on his feet, where a strong case can be made that he even outboxed Alex, at the very least that it was equal on that matter. Finally, I saw the last takedown as a sign coming from Jan that he was still in control of the situation, asserting dominance in order to cement a win.

“Did the judges get it correct” “Razor close round” “In real time u can see it going either way” But yet u judge the “control time” as if it has no meaning, because u fail to explain or ever explain u understand how and why the secondary scoring criteria should be implemented The whole point of “control time” a secondary scoring criteria. Is, do use it to judge a round, when u can’t judge it, based on the primary scoring criteria, then it’s implemented, and makes the “razor close, could go either way” primary scoring criteria redundant. How do u have a channel based on breaking down fights, but only ever use the primary scoring criteria, when by ur own very words, ur saying the secondary scoring criteria should of been engaged, meaning he did not have to do damage with the take down, it means the effective striking and grappling was so close, secondary criteria, in control, should be implemented, but u dismiss that, and only asses the primary criteria, but finish by using the very freaking sentences the rules use, to say the secondary criteria should be implemented. These break downs are so redundant, if it was accurate, u should be establishing if there is a case or not for the secondary criteria to be implemented, and then score the round, because ur scoring a round, by the rules themselves say the criteria ur using, is redundant, and secondary criteria is needed. But u NEVER establish that crucial bit of context.
@TheWeasleMMA

Control is not secondary. Aggression is secondary and then control is tertiary. I should mention this on every video but I've talked about the scoring criteria dozens of times that I thought I wouldn't need to explain how it ordered anymore. Aggression and control are not scored, whatsoever, unless effective striking and grappling are EXACTLY even. They were not even so control does not get scored at all.
@Duarki
Жыл бұрын
@@TheWeasleMMA so how exactly do the judges assess weather the primary criteria is “EXACTLY EVEN”, what? Watch a slow motion frame by frame break down of the fight? they r judging in real time, and they don’t just declare a strike, light , medium, hard. That’s ur scoring criteria. control is 100% a secondary scoring criteria, and it’s not just control, is literally listed as having an understanding of boxing, muai Thai, wrestling, judo and ju-jitsu, the unified rules literally state, that the judge needs to have an understanding of these rules, to determine, who is effectively “implementing their will” “dictating the pace” “dictating the position” that is the literal wording of how an mma judge is instructed to judge who has control, or is the aggressor. because they understand the disciplines listed, and they understand how one fighter may be using a technique from one of those discipline, to do any of the above. there is no wording anywhere that says “tertiary criteria” wtf mate, u just come up with shit. there is primary and secondary criteria, and u just worded it to fit the way u see things better. the wording is “secondary scoring criteria IS ONLY TO BE CONSIDERED IF a clear winner can not be established based on (insert primary scoring criteria)” no wording of EXACTLY, or, “hmmm that was pretty close so we will consider and take in all close back and forth, and then add on who won, by combining the significant strikes and weighing them against take downs. the secondary scoring criteria is a system that is implemented when there is “no clear winner” “based on….” but u think u can establish a clear winner based off 1 strike you as an individual watching frame by frame has tallied as being 1 more damaging strike then the opponent. the whole point of the secondary scoring criteria is to make the primary scoring criteria redundant, and judge the fight off aggression and control, not damage, from significant strikes or accumulated strikes. or someone who clearly won the round by having effective grappling. when it’s to close to see “to establish a clear winner” (in real time) they are suppose to engage the secondary criteria, and judge it off aggression and control, which is literally worded as, implementing their will Dictating the pace Dictating the position so when there is no clear winner, they judge the fight off the above. they don’t tally 20-18 significant strikes, then factor in aggression and control. They completely wipe the significant strikes, as it’s ruled a stalemate. and use the secondary criteria. there is no place ever, where it’s written, “only when it’s exactly even” it’s literally written as “only to be considered, when a clear winner can not be established” a clear winner, and exactly even Are two very different things. It’ll never be exactly even. and how could they possibly see that in real time, ring side. that’s so dumb. u don’t even know the rules, u say u know the rules, and then u can’t even word them correctly, or u change the context, u should start ur video, by assessing weather the primary or secondary scoring criteria should be being used. and understand they aren’t combined, it’s one or the other. so by ur very own words, u said the round was to close to establish a clear winner, ur own stats u came up with highlighted that even more. 1 strike. but as someone who is suppose to be an expert on the rules and judging, u r judging a situation which u have openly assessed as being to close to establish a clear winner, by saying “razor close round, “in real time u can see it going either way” but fail to acknowledge that is the exact situation in which the secondary criteria should be engaged. so in that instance, Who implemented their will? who dictated the pace? who dictated the position? why the hell would u break down a round, using the primary criteria, when it’s obvious the secondary criteria is at play. it’s so freaking dumb.

The way Jan gassed probably played against him in the eyes of the judges. But still if he was that gassed i would expect Perreira (a predator / hunter / finisher) to finish him. Jan kept Perreira honest. Jan had the most clear cut round (round 1). Finished on top. We know what Perreira’s striking can do damage wise but i didn’t see it in this fight.
