When I first saw this movie it really hit home. I grew up with my dad as a firefighter so I was at the station all the time. In middle school I started firefighting as well and served with my dad for a while. He finally retired and I continued (in another state) and loved it. Not every moment is fun. Some you can look back on and they're better than they were in the moment, while others you wish you could forget. I've always loved running into fires--hose line or not--to help others. Collapsing, burning, dangerous buildings. Didn't matter. I was willing to do something others weren't, so it's hard to turn down the opportunity. The thing with this movie was thinking about my dad risking his life for others he didn't know, as well as my experience doing the job with small kids at home. I don't want to leave them but to sacrifice one's life in the service of others is a worthy cause. In the Coast Guard we also have a saying: so others may live.

A lot of people don't know what a firefighter truly goes through. Full bunker gear, air tank, hose, and still willing to walk through the gates of hell to rescue the ones who could not get out. Our military is over seas and our firefighters have the front lines here.

I was a volunteer firefighter for three and a half years and I know what it is like to be a full bunker gear running towards the gates of hell when everybody else is running away I protected life and property with honor commitment sacrifice courage dedication I answered the call 365 days a year 24/7 no matter if it was on standby medical run or a structure fire I went lights and sirens to help me hear the weakest shouts for help to help me shave the people from the whores of flames and according to my faith if I shall give my life to save somebody else let my family know I did not die a hero but I died doing what I love to do and that was being a firefighter or volunteer firefighter and to protect them while I am not there I will probably stand with my brothers and sisters and the fire department I wish I could post a picture of me standing in front of the tanker I drove but KZitem does not allow that but if you go to my Facebook page and look underneath my photos you will see the photo Amen to all who serve past and present in the fire service

tHe first time i heard the song, i hadnt seen this movie. but seeing it while listening, i couldnt help but cry. wow. my neighbors house caught on fire 2 weeks ago. her husband was working 3rd, it was just her and her little girl. she heard the alarm go off, and she ran to her daughters room, only to be stop ed by the rolling flames coming in from thecfront of her house. i dont know how, it dont think she does either, but somehow, she managed to get through it, grab her daughter, and get out, before it was gone. im baffled. they tore what was left of that house down 2 days ago, and it was obvious where most of the fire centered and destroyed. her daughters room. there was no floor, no roof, and eveything was left as either a singed metal skeleton, or ashes. im not even sure how she woke up. she had inhaled so much smoke. the fire captain, said the fire smouldered for 6 freaking hours. while they were asleep, before catching. she coughed and spit back shit for 2 hours. that little girl was in complete shock. i happened to wake up as the fire trucks flew in. all i could see through my whole house, was red flashing lights. i opened the door, and even though that house sits almost a football field away, i felt the heat. i took off running toward the house, praying the whole way. a fireman reached out and snatched me as i got to there yard, and pointed me to where they were standing. about 30 seconds later we hear tire squealing coming FAST. i swear it looked like that man started running before the car got stopped. her husband. he was so scared, it was all over his face. my point is....... We take for granted how lucky (blessed) we really are. in that moment, that little family felt it. i couldnt help but think about the firemen. had they not woke up, and got out, any one of those firemen, wouldvhave risked their lives, to save them. and meanwhile, there kids, and wives are at home knowing that this could happen at any minute. Firemen are not the only ones who sacrifice. their families do too.

I'm a firefighting father of 4. And I love my children more than anything in the world. I'm not going out like this. They give me the strength to carry on.

Yesterday a horable tragedy happened in my city near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Two cops shot one passed away the other had surgery and is back home with his family. But this song has been on mind since then. Pray for the officer's and their families please.
