I was at this show at the National. I didn’t know at the time it would be the last time I’d see Robbin perform. I still love that man’s music.

Robbin was a treat to know and absolutely rocked! I first heard him sing when he was fronting Mercy Flight and opened for Steel Mill (Bruce Springsteen's band) on the top of the 7th Street parking deck. Unmistakable voice. Bought every release and saw him occasionally down at In Your Ear.

@@wfoj21 Hard to believe that after Steel Mill broke up he did not rise to the national scene and Springsteen did. It never made any sense to me.

Yeah, but just think of how many of those successes out there, don't even have one person their music has touched, the way Robbin's songs touched you, I & many other South Easterners from our generation. "Oh.....Gimme' Back Those Days".

I first saw Robbin Thompson at Virginia Tech around 1981-ish while dating a girl attending VT. What an amazing tight band! As a drummer I am not sure why I was so amazed by Eric on piano but I was. I also saw the band at Club Saba in Wash DC, The Wax museum in Wash DC, and The Bayou in Wash DC. The Bayou concert was on a Wednesday night which just happened to be the night off during Bruce Springsteen's 4 concert stint at the Capitol Center in nearby Largo MD. We knew something was up when there was a big security presence upstairs in the back near the restrooms. Bruce and some of his band and entourage where there for the show. About 20 minutes after the final encore the road crew rolled out on stage a small Fender amp and a guitar. Then it happened! Out comes the band along with Bruce Springsteen, Clarence Clemons, and Gary Tallent. What happened next was pure magic. 25 minutes of an amazing jam. I don't recall what songs were played but it was great. Up until that point I was not a Springsteen fan but that quickly changed. OMG he can actually sing!!! Why did I not like what I had heard on the radio? I was on a musical high for days. I WAS 20 FEET FROM BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!!!!!!!

It’s so sad folks want to erase history. You learn from history. Rest in Paradise Robbin, you will never be forgotten and your talent lives on…never to be erased.
