In this video short, Sheldon Jackson Museum artist-in-residence Robert Hoffmann (Tlingit) talks about the carving tools he uses to carve formline designs. He also discusses how he cares for his tools.
Hoffmann worked at the museum in July 2021 as a participant in the Alaska Native Artist Residency Program. The 2021 Series is made possible with generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Friends of Sheldon Jackson Museum, Alaska Airlines, and private donors.
