I'm 59 years old. What wouldn't I give to be able to go back and live there forever.

I was wondering if you knew the specifications of the camera or indeed the model of the camera and lens used to get this footage? I'm working on a project to try and recreate a 1920/30 look so it is particularly interesting to me right now.

Hello Leo, great stuff. Just wondering how this was transferred as the aspect is a little squashed. Regards David

Thanks David. Good point. I think for 16mm film I should be using an aspect ration closer to 4:3 but I may have used 16:9. If I get time I'll see if I can correct

Fantastic, thanks Leo.I thought that may have been the case. I am Admin of the facebook group St.Kilda Images & Stories, a member group that has been running for over 8 years. This footage has been doing the rounds on various groups however no one has ever acknowledged or attributed it to anyone of which I would like to do on our group page. Funny , my wife's in-laws are Hogans too. Would you be able to message me on FB by any chance . Cheers Tim Swampy.

Hi Leo, We are from the Elwood Neighbourhood House in Tennyson Street and we are having a little function next week with long time residents of Elwood and we would like to have this film on show. Is this okay ?

Hi Ross - any suggestions appreciated. I am fairly certain the woman on the left is Ellen Juckert based upon still pictures of her after she married Robert. However, I am less certain about the woman on the right. But, I could be wrong on both.

The woman on the left is Bonnie Robinson, and on the right Nance Wyatt. Both lived in the Elwood area.

What happened to the Plaza Ballroom near The Palais? Must have been knocked over for the Novotel and flats?

Burnt down during the 70’s from memory. I may not be right but I don’t think so. It was called the Palais de Danes & checking it burnt down in 1968. It was next to the Palais theatre , Luna Park was on the other side.
