Body builders have a ton more muscle, but it makes them terrible fighters since they are slow and inflexible, being strong but lean is far better. Plus Batman won’t have time to work out. @@stevenw5838irst of all weight distribution works differently depending on height, Robert Pattinson is 6'1 which is tall and the taller you are the harder it gets to put on muscle mass, which means you can have skinny looking tall guys who are capable of knocking your ass out because of weight distribution and just look at mma fighters like Anderson silva or BJ Penn, both are men definitely capable of knocking folks out and yet they are pretty skinny or even look at Bruce Lee who was also pretty skinny but definitely could knock folks out he only didn't look skinny because he had a very low body fat percentage which by the way reduces punching power but his muscle mass was not high at all. Pattinsons physique is very realistic in terms of being capable of knocking someone out while being fast and agile. Side note: I can guarantee Keaton is one of your favourite batmen but you don't criticise him for being skinny and he was less likely to knock guys out than Pattinson because he was shorter and skinny meaning by default Pattinson is heavier weight just cause he's taller. Or how about West or Kilmer, don't see any criticisms of their physiques. This is why Fanbases annoy me, you only criticise things when it suits you and lack consistency.

And no matter whether its live action or animated in my opinion and for so many fans The Batman IS Kevin Conroy. Pattinson's Batman is a return to the old school detective version of Batman, not the James Bond action hero Batman. He's as fit as he needs to be in order to fight when he has to, but most of the movie he's solving things with his brain. Ironically we see at the end Batman injecting himself with Bane's Venom in order to get his second wind, which may be a subtle nod to the expectation that people expect him to be a bulked up tank, but the reality is that he's more focused on being mentally agile and strong rather than physically agile and strong.

I think he is also making a point that he is an actor playing a character, not an actor becoming a character. He can give a phenomenal performance, without it being an emotionally-charged identity crisis. For him, this is a job. One he may be passionate about and enjoy dearly, but a job nonetheless. To me, he's basically saying that he isn't going to strain or jeopardize his personal health and well being because of his work. Which is just like what any of us would do. Like...almost all of us work, right? Take my job for example. I have the option to travel to different locations. I choose not to because it would put too much strain on my health and it would lead to burnout. Pattinson not wanting to transform his body into a superhero-type physique is the same thing. It doesn't matter if you make $10M or $10/hr, you still have to prioritize the things that really matter. He's just doing what any normal, average person would do, which is prioritize his wants and needs.

Putting on a couple pounds is light work and considering the gravity of the role he got you would think he would put more effort into it. @@michael_5930 That's the issue with using blanket statements. And it most definitely applies. The bodybuilding scene in the 1970's with Arnold is what made bodybuilding famous. Pumping Iron and Stay Hungry both came out in the 1970s, featured Arnold, and were critically acclaimed. Plus that was the launching pad for not just Arnold's action star career, but the entire action blockbuster phase into the 1980s. Even the first Rocky film came out in the mid 70s with Stallone. David Prowse played Darth Vader and he was a bodybuilder. He even helped train Christopher Reeve (who bulked up quite a bit) for the first Superman movie. Lou Ferrigno was playing Hulk on television in that decade. There was huge overlap between Hollywood and the bodybuilding scene.

I just watched his Batman movie for the first time a couple days ago. It was genuinely an excellent movie. I liked it better than Nolan's trilogy. RP did everything just right for the role he played, and his physique was spot on for what I would imagine as Batman at that point in his timeline.
@W1ckedRcL
Жыл бұрын
@DexterMorgan71 the problem with the Nolan trilogy is that you can replace all the names and titles and locations with any generic name and it still works. Nolan's Batman could just be a regular ninja dude and it wouldn't be any different. Also, Batman's intellect and ingenuity is never showcased. He doesn't make his own gadgets or tech or use his Sherlock Holmes level of crime solving. Everything he uses is just off the shelf Wayne industries stuff and that's not how Batman gets ANY of his gear or vehicles, or solves his crimes. On top of that Nolan's Batman doesn't display Bruce Wayne's business savvy intelligence either. They just make it out like Lucius Fox runs Wayne Enterprises and Bruce Wayne does nothing but collect a check. That's also NOT comic book accurate. Nolan's trilogy does a lot of stuff right and is an excellent cinematic experience as well as a master class in writing and directing. But it's not really Batman. Imo, anyway.

It also just fits for his very early portrayal of Batman in like year 2. The dude barely slept and like someone else commented all he did was fight and get hurt. Batfleck is sort of the just leaving his prime version within the last few years before MoS when he likely lost Robin to the Joker (or that Robin is the Joker) because Affleck’s version had already been Batman for like 20 years, he perfected his moves and formula and weight, dude was built like a fucking tank.
