These record guys really, REALLY dropped the ball with Plant. They had no clue what to do with that voice. Let us all be thankful for that.

But fate and Jimmy Page intervened, so this is all we have of Plant before the Big Time, and one does wonder how far he would have progressed in this direction. Would he have remained obscure or developed into a Bowie-esque talent, ever shifting with the whims of muse? For what they are, good UK radio rock c. 1967.

+nik knak (drumkraze123) You might be correct. Steve Winwood and Robert Plant are from the same area of England and were born the same year. Robert Plant became big when he joined Led Zeppelin.

actually he told his wife he would give the music thing 1 more year and if he didnt make it, he would quit and get a real job. That was in 1968. Page and Peter Grant caught him singing at a college venue and the rest, as they say is history.

@@williamstebbins7294 This definitely sounds varispeeded. It was all the rage when it was introduced around '66. CBS wanted Tom Jones. I also think they lied about Led Zep. His voice has got to be sped up on The Song Remains The Same.
