This performance is incredible! Such energy and passion, but never losing control and continuously highlighting Schumanns marvellous contrapuntal writing. By far the favourite one Ive listened to so far!

The sheet looks easy , but when you start to play at tempo , that's when the trouble comes around

Hence is the nature of Schumann. You only realize the sheer difficulty of playing and interpreting his music once you sit down and try to play it yourself.

I really like the recent Schumann videos that you have done! He's a composer that I had a hard time getting into, and these videos are a great help

Is it only me, or it sounds like rachmaninoff took the idea for the ossia cadenza from the first movement?

Only could listen the first 10 seconds. That speed for that wonderful first movement completely kills all the Schumann spirit there. A pity...

I want to honor the hard work & determination of the pianist, but I have to say that I am just so sick of fast, loud, ugly playing. It’s as if real artistry just doesn’t exist anymore. Everything is speed and some kind of weird, unbalanced, technology-motivated mayhem, and it has nothing to do with the poetic spirit that the great 19th century composer-pianists all possessed. Horowitz was asked, “What do you think it would be like to hear Liszt?” and he replied “Disappointing!” - and I think he’s right, because Liszt was not a butcher, like we only have today.

Do you really think that Virsaladze's performance is just fast, loud, and ugly? Just so you know, Sviatoslav Richter considered her Schumann to be simply incomparable and best. She also won 1st prize at the Schumann International Competition, playing “Kreisleriana” during the competition.
