Very elegant, educated, and polished man. After "UNCLE", he earned a Ph.D in Communications and won a TV debate on Vietnam with a cocky, overconfident William F Buckley. I miss him.

I don't know about 'won,' but his made a good account of himself, and not surprisingly, is a likable character. kzitem.info/news/bejne/s4SB0Zd3iIt0iY4

You say he won, because you are a liberal. I say he lost, because he is a globalist. If the U.N. voted to got to Vietnam, he would have been for it.

@@ricknorth77 Who is a “liberal” - anyone who disagrees with you? In any case, thank you for your “global” analysis. Perhaps Buckley had knocked back the Scotch the night before, or figured, “I can beat an actor in my sleep!” He should have been better prepared!

He was a victim of vicious childhood sexual abuse and decided to speak out about it. He dedicated much of his life to bringing the issue of incest and child abuse to light. Elegant man. Not many victims emerge from that kind of childhood chaos with such bravery and resilience. RIP.

It's beautiful to know an intelligent actor was able to navigate his politics and a beautiful long acting career. I always enjoy his career but I especially enjoyed his performance in bullitt. You don't get no lower than a political d.a. looking for headlines at the expense of a police officer. Dassterly performance. Don't get any crooket than that character he played.😎😎

Back in the day, there were some highly intelligent liberals. They didn't scream "racism" and "sexism" at every disagreement. Robert Vaughn was one of those highly intelligent liberals.

Another thing about "back in the day" - is that "liberalism" was a totally different animal. So many of us that were liberals back then are conservative now. The party changed, and it was a sort of political Reformation for many. "I was a liberal before I got mugged." kinda thing.

There are many intelligent people who are liberal and progressive today. Just because you don't agree with them doesn't make them unintelligent. I'm not a conservative, but I can give credit to someone who is conservative for being sincere in their beliefs or making an intelligent argument, even if I disagree wholeheartedly with what they are saying.

vaugh's criticisms should have been about LBJ's horrific mismanagement of that conflict-NOT a backstab against JFK's legitimate concerns about soviet and red china's malfeasance there. unusual amongst presidents, kennedy himself experienced being aided by Phillipino insurgents against japanese capture. his was a rare insight into what life was like for many asians and what horrors would be unleashed in places like cambodia if communist forces overran the region. at one point in vietnam there were 180,000 south korean troops, 80,000 australian, 50,000 canadian volunteers and many others from tiawan and so forth helping the republic south. there were damned good reasons for all the democracies to help the south since the north were already getting shiploads of soviet weapons and technicians. the north constantly attacked the south, including through it's PLA branch vietcong terrorists, while the south didn't attack the north. this all was happening long before kennedy sent any troops there, which means it was the north who was the aggressor-NOT THE U.S.
