I have read some terrible things about Robin and it is none of peoples Bisness Robin wasnt weird he was Dedicated and a Musical Genius and had the most Beautiful and Diverse Voices Noone will come close to him. And he was a kind and honourable man. I know from experience. It was 1989 in Melbourne Australia for the One concert. After the concert my parents and I lined up to meet the Bee Gees. We had different preferences My Dad lined up for Barry My mum loved Maurice and me I was a fan of Robins. Someone behind pushed forward and I fell. I started to cry I was 13 at the time and I didnt want Robin to see. Anyway I felt someone pull me to my feet and it was Robin. He was so concerned if I was ok. He told me to stand to 1 side and I thought I wasnt going to get his Autograph. I heard him say to security to go and Get something and It was a special one LP. He personally signed it with my name. I have never forgotten a big star like Robin was so kind to a child like he was to me. And I still have that LP to this day. And I cried when I heard of his death. He was 1 of a kind and I will miss you.

Grief is a very private, individual thing. If you are a person that gets your energy replenished by being around others (regardless of how quiet, shy, or gregarious you are), then you are more comfortable on a stage with a crowd. You can also be congenial and fun, but if you are a person that needs “alone” time to replenish energy, then you will definitely need to retreat when you are grieving. Being surrounded by strangers that want you to perform for them might be the last thing you need to heal. There is nothing wrong with either M.O.; we don’t “choose” how we naturally get drained or replenished; it’s an innate temperament thing. I don’t think when an immediate family member dies (and with them, 1/3 of your band), that anything is owed the public. A true extrovert must surround themselves with people to heal; a true introvert desperately needs to cave to heal. And true artistry exists across the temperaments. With respect.

@ HELEN G I agree about the back-up singers. His voice is just enough. However, Robin produced this entire cut of this album. That decision would of went through Robin. I also agree the orchestra was too loud, drowning out Robin' s voice. These are matters we can not understand. For some reason Robin seemed to want others to carry his voice. Perhaps it has something to do with the timing!! I believe this performance was cut into an album. This would have been the following months after he lost his best friend, his twin brother Maurice. He may have feared he could not hold it together, and was covering himself in case he couldn't. Let' s cut Robin a little slack. Thank you for understanding. 🤔

Robin never really made it back. Robin was running for his life. And he kept on running until his own death in 2012. His work schedule was non-stop. But it kept his mind occupied. That was his way of dealing with the death of his twin. Robin was just lost without Mo.I hate that he had to experience that sad and devastating loss.💔
@L.M.O.
2 жыл бұрын
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 Thanks for your sentiment. I would say for the most part,---that is how men often deal with mourning a loss, WORK, WORK, WORK! Not in all cases of course.ROBIN was a man of strong character and enormous talent, I admire him for that. When I view the video' s of his CHILDHOOD, he was HAPPY, FUNNY, JOYFUL, ENERGETIC, the CLOWN of the FAMILY. Gloria,--- Unfortunately his ADULT life included far too MUCH TRAGEDY. Far beyond the death of his best of the best friend, his twin Maurice. In addition to brother Andy' s death & his father, there was the divorce of his first love Molly. The seperation with his son & daughter 'cause of the divorce. Even before all this, there was more. Two close brushes with death in his very young adulthood. During Molly and Robin's engagement, they both went through a disastrous, horrible, tragic train derailment. They had injuries and were trapped. Once found, leaving for hospital they needed to cross paths, (in some cases 'stepover')numerous injured, dying, and dead bodies. In one of the video interviews posted on KZitem Robin compared it to "walking through a 'WAR ZONE' ". Can you imagine the YEARS Robin and Molly suffered NIGHTMARES of their experience. You hear of 'veterans of war' having nightmares with their PTSD. It would be the SAME THING FOR ROBIN & MOLLY! Add to this,--- when on their honeymoon, they were trapped in an Avalanche in their cabin. NOT FOUND FOR 4 DAYS!! This is how his ADULT life differed w/his childhood. In spite of the tragedy,---he prodded along w/his songwriting. Hands down, by far most of the fruits of his labor were serious, sad, tragic, melancholy tracks. It could have been both empathy for others who suffered with tragedies & therapeutic for himself. It was a way to release some sorrow. Now, don' t forget his cause of death. He suffered for many, many years of treatment of this insidious disease of CANCER. THE BOTTOM LINE, my point I make for you in this comment of mine is meant for a purpose. The emotional PAIN in both EYES and VOICE comes from more than his loss of twin brother Maurice. It is an accumulation of MANY TRAGEDIES in his ADULT LIFE, compared to his CHILDHOOD that was HAPPY, FUNNY, JOYFUL, ENERGETIC, CLOWN OF FAMILY. He DEALT with it, the BEST he could,---IN his SONGWRITING.... He wrote about other' s TRAGEDIES in many of his songs, (Ellan Vannan/ A Requiem for Titanic/ I' ve Gotta Get A Message To You/New York Mining Disaster). It had to be therapeutic for him. It' s the reason the LYRICS and HIS VOICE CUTS through TO the HEART & the EARS of his listening FANS. I ADMIRE THIS MAN'S CHARACTER. 💔💓💕❤💗 AND I KNOW YOU DO AS WELL.
@L.M.O.

@ MARY ANDERSON, Not only the loss of his BEST FRIEND and TWIN BROTHER MAURICE, but an entire ADULT LIFETIME OF TRAGEDIES. The horrible, tragic train derailment during Robin & Molly engagement & were injured in. They were trapped, once found making their way out to get to ambulance was a harrowing experience. Robin compared that in an interview as "walking through a 'WAR ZONE' ". They had to walk around & step-over injured, dying, and dead bodies. Think of PTSD NIGHTMARES!! This interview was on one of video's posted @ KZitem. On Robin and Molly' s honeymoon, yet another brush of death & fear of dying. Their cabin suffered an avalanche, trapped for 4 days. Add to this, he suffered a divorce from Molly, seperation with his son and daughter because of divorce, the death of brother Andy, his father, then Maurice. And many, many years fighting the insidious disease of Cancer, and I' m sure the side-effects of treatment. Far more tragedy than the loss of twin brother Maurice,---if that wasn' t enough. I believe a good part of him surviving all the tragedies of his adult life was his talent of SONGWRITING. That had to be therapeutic for him. He often wrote of trag- edies, not just his own losses, but others, (A Requiem for Titanic/ I Gotta Get a Message To You/New York Mining Disaster/Ellan Vannan). Then singing those songs more emotional release. I admire this man's 💗CHARACTER as well as his TALENT.💕💓

I hope performing helped Robin cope with the terrible grief he must be dealing with because of the loss of Mo his twin. It is so nice to Robin smile ! He seemed very happy singing their songs. I miss both Robin and Mo. Very sad to know the three brothers will never ever get to perform together again. But the Bee Gees music will last forever.
