But for thick steel parts, nothing compares to oxyfuel which capitalizes on the exothermic reaction of molten iron and oxygen, allowing you to cut as much as 60" thick. Combined with a robot the results are remarkable. Creating an accurate and smooth weld joint is an important step before automating welding.
Robotic oxyfuel cutting can be made portable when parts are too large to move to the 'bot.
