Have you ever played a video game simulator where you get to control a train, truck plane or boat? Well imagine if that video game controlled the real thing.
Ships are sailing the seas with hardly any crew on board at all - instead people are now able to operate the boats using computers hundreds of miles away.
A number of companies are working on remote controlled vessels and the BBC's Science Editor, Rebecca Morelle, had the chance to see one of the boats as it began sea trials in Norway.
