I have this throne and HOLY S**T do I love the thing!. I have a (sometimes) iffy lower back, but I can't remember ever needing that back rest...So, buy it ONLY if you know you're going to need it, otherwise, NO NEED. This thing's so comfortable that when the band goes on break, sometimes I don't even want to get up. I'm happy as a clam just chillin there until they get back. I never feel the need to get up and stretch or whatever do to discomfort from the throne, which is not something I can say about most of the old thrones I've had. The gas actuator is flawless and spectacular. I can't tell you how happy I am not to have to contort my body bending over, or get off the throne and get on my knees to adjust the height anymore, especially with as little room as us drummers have sometimes. That alone is worth $50 easy. I could go on and on... Whatever, just buy this thing already

I play bass guitar and sax. I've got the manual spindle version and it is by far more comfortable than a chair or stool for practicing. I even use it as a desk chair and it definitely has helped with my posture. But I agree in that I wouldn't use it to watch TV.

Everyone talks about equipment, but no one talks about the importance of a quality throne. It really is night and day difference when playing longer than a 1/2 hour practice in your basement. And has a greater impact the older you get.
@GuitarsAndSynths

Agree in fact for guitar players as well can use one. The standard guitar seats are crap with zero support. I ended up buying a drum roc n soc throne because my ass was killing me after 10 minutes of seating on my cheap Fender guitar stool! My guitar teacher actually turned me onto the Roc n Soc drum throne for best comfort playing guitar! So even though it is geared for drummers these are fantastic also for guitar players who want to practice or jam in comfort for hours!
@HailRider

Along with many other guitarists below, I too use one for my home music room. So-called "guitar stools" are all too tall and far too uncomfortable. To play guitar you need your legs (thigh) parallel to the deck (floor) at a minimum. I prefer a slightly higher knee. Whether I am playing acoustic or electric doesn't matter to me. On this seat I can easily reach my floor amp or adjust another amp without bending too far forward or reaching uncomforably which would happen if I am using a "guitar stool". I opted for the non-gas piston one. The seat still spins freely while the worm gear is locked in the height that I want. No guitar chair does that. I notice that drum thrones are about the same height as most Cajons are... coincidence? I think not 18" is a pretty good height for just about everybody for comfort.

I’ve heard a drummer who owned a similar drum throne which adjusted seat height with the lever/hydraulics (I believe hydraulic 🤔) however his complaint was that it bounced some while playing…..which he don’t like. It doesn’t sound like you’ve had this issue? Thanks I love these reviews. Drumming without a throne & sick of it (embarrassed to say how long I’ve done that).

I'm in dire need of a new throne and we have a pretty important show coming up in a few weeks,So my question is I'm 6ft 3 and weigh around 188lbs but I'm worried about the nitro "bounce" affecting my leg power. We're a metal band and I play alot of double bass and incorporate alot of blast beats,does this affect double bass playing or leg power at all or would you know? Because I'm trying to decide on either this or a Pork Pie and need to make a decision quick.Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

The Roc-n-Soc saddle seat throne is top quality for sure. However, I'm 5'10", 175lbs and I find it's just too big to be comfy. The bump in the front pushes on the family jewels and gets very uncomfy after about 30 minutes. I'm trying to decide between a Carmichael Throne or the Ahead Spinal-G. With the Carmichael, I only need to buy the seat top and can use all the great Roc-n-Soc hardware so, that's probably the way to go for me.

Hi, I've been interested in drums for a while, and watching your videos has been incredibly helpful to me. I had a Alesis dm6 briefly, than I trade it for a dm10 first model, then I sold it when met some life obstacles. Now I just got the alesis command X 9 from a sale during Xmas /New year and I'm torn. I'm a guitar player for 14 years but always wanted to play drums too. Since it's not my first instrument and I'm still too green, is that a decent drum kit for me to learn? Or if I can be patient and save up for a yamaha or Rolland would be better on the long run? I'm still under the 45 day return and I can return it. It was on sale for $649, now it's $799. I'd appreciate immensely if you could give me your thoughts on that matter. Thanks in advance for your help and for all the free knowledge and effort that you put energy into for completely strangers. All the best!! Ps I had an Amazon throne for 20 bucks before and couldn't practice for very long, made sense the video, whatever drum kit I end up with, I ll definitely get this drum throne

I have lymphedema below the waist. So I’m at 400lbs,almost all of it in my legs. Do you think it’ll hold up? I think it being hydraulic might make it last longer? My pdp tractor seat had a pop metal base for the seat attachment and lasted no time. It was used,however. Everyone tells me pork pie if you’re fat,but logically an hydraulic should be stronger. Until there’s a cure for lymphedema,about 300lbs is probably as small as I can get. Thanks.

You should always buy the best throne you can afford. Although, the gas mechanism of this throne is a bit of a bell and whistle. A spindle version of the same throne would be more reliable.
