Those are going to look sweet Jon. I just order C4 Fabs Sliders and I will be doing the same thing. I got a quote here in town to Powder Coat them and they wanted $165 for both. I was like no thank you. I will be doing what you are doing. Thanks for the video man. Love what you are doing g for DYI people like me.

Thanks for another DIY video! The sliders will look great! Can’t wait to see the install video. I ended up ordering SSO’s sliders (flat top plate with kickout, onlycome bare metal) after changing my mind hundreds of time between manufacturer, angled or flat, kickout or no kickout, etc. The only thing that sucks is 8-10 week lead time (ordered them a week ago).

Oh man! That’s pretty far out there! But I’m sure they will be worth it in the end. I almost went with SSO and just went and picked them up.

I did the same on my SSO sliders. Powder coating was also way more that 150 from them i believe. I wire wheeled mine, several coats of etching primer then sprayed with a gray hammered finish. Finally I bought a small can of the same and dumped a bag of silica in it then rolled a couple more coats on. Thick and abrasive .....

I like using the Rustoleum Rust Reformer to touch up the frame. Hitch area and hitch parts. Then I use the Rustoleum Satin Black to finish it off. I find the flat was too flat and the gloss is too glossy. I put the undercoating on my onewheel fender and it is chipping off now. You want to use something like the Rhino Liner type spray that they use on the spray in bed liners.
@TRDJon

I thought this 3m was gonna act like that but it definitely didn’t. I may do the satin black after these 3 coats. Since it’s really dried it does look a tad to flat. So I may get the satin. Thank you!

Let us know if you find a better bedliner type of spray or paint to put on those step plates. I've been doing some research into sliders as well, and the obstacle is painting and adding some nonslip layer. Thanks Jon!

I like DYI, and especially so to save some money in the end. Regarding the $130.00 you are saving, is that the savings after the expenses for your painting supplies? It's gonna look great.

Ish yes. I belibe it’s $150 for the powder coat and about $50 more for the top plates too so I guess $170 ish saved after materials

Hey Jon! I’ve been watching your videos for about two months and just found this old one from a google search. Would you mind giving me an update on the finish of your sliders? I’m looking at getting the Cali raised angled sliders and am leaning towards finishing them myself instead of powder coating. I get on the trail often and I don’t know that it’s worth powder coating them just to get scraped up. Have yours taken any damage? How often do you repaint? Thanks man!
