DOOM's backstory is super important to the whole mythos he constructed. His supervillain persona is deeply rooted in the betrayal by, and strong resentment towards, the music industry.

Why what happened between Doom and the music industry?
@kvonmusic325
2 жыл бұрын
@@urlocalproducer In 1993 a few months before the 2nd KMD album "Black Bastards" was released, DOOM's brother SubRoc was killed in a car crash. DOOM finished the album in the coming months, only for Elektra Records to refuse to release the album due to the controversial cover art, around the same time the label dropped KMD from the label which left DOOM pretty helpless. He disappeared from the public eye for the next 3-4 years, even being homeless for this period of time. This is why I love his entire career, its really an amazing way to get back at the industry as a whole by putting out as much quality music for as long as he did, while at the same time finishing quite possibly the greatest underground rapper of alltime.

The four songs in the middle kinda serve as a commercial break in DOOM’s little show. Also i just noticed for the first time but in Fillet-O-Rapper when he says “I got a really stressful day and I really really needed some food, something healthy like beets” he makes beets into a double entendre and shows off his producing skills on the short tracks. I enjoyed this so much! Metal Fingers is MF DOOM’s pseudonym (or alternate name) for his producing persona. So he produced the majority of the tracks on this album, which makes sense why he’d have extended instrumentals where he doesn’t rap at all. It makes me feel like his instrumentals are just as much an expression of himself as his voice is. I feel as if he chooses samples that best represent his viewpoints and accentuate his style. It’s as if his sample selection is not just what “sounds good”, but also picking samples whose words help contribute to the message of his tracks. As we see, in some tracks, he even incorporates the samples as repeated words and motifs in his verses. So there’s a direct correlation there between sample selection and meaning that I feel is so indicative of his uniquely effective style of self expression.

Once Christmas rolls around, I highly suggest adding the DOOM Christmas Album into your holiday rotations lol. It's unofficial, but Cookinsouls, a dj on KZitem mixed the lyrics with some Christmas inspired songs. One of my favorite things to ever come from KZitem. DOOM mixes are consistently great, dude's flow is so awkward it fits on nearly every beat. No one quite like the Villain.

That mix is absolutely flawless, probably listened to it 30-40 times each year around christmas since 2018, every single track is in my opinion better than the originals (Naughty or Nutz and Wonderfull especially). Such an amazing vibe all the way through and so well mixed together

Best mash up ever. It’s amazing. But Cookin Soul isn’t a “DJ on youtube.” He’s a legitimate producer from Spain with tons of releases on Bandcamp and on vinyl.

There are some good tapes out there, but contrary to what you say it's painfullty clear that his flow doesn't just fit any beats due to his"awkward" flow. There are many remixes going around where te lyrics are dropped totally wrong.
