@@JakeReevesVideo Hi Jake, Thanks for all these great RB videos; I'm new with RB use, and your info has really given me a great start! Two questions: 1. The coil on my RB Fusion has tightly bent ends, which is good. But I'm worried about breaking the coil; I have the new Panda Planner arriving today and plan to combine pages with it and the Fusion together. Do I need to worry about breaking the coil ends? 2. Do you plan to review the RB Panda Planner? Many thanks and a wonderful day to you!

Hi Mary, the coil breaking should be a concern. To help, I extended the coil away from the page a little, then took a lighter near it to soften it a little and it bent to a less tight position. Just be very careful not to burn yourself or to overheat the coil or the notebook. I will be reviewing the Panda Planner - hopefully next week. I've had it for a while now, but haven't had too much time to play with it yet.

@@JakeReevesVideo Thanks Jake! That's pretty scary... I can envision myself bursting my Rocketbook into a royal inferno... Might try holding the coil end near a radiant heat source, or wrapping the end in think cloth and holding to a warm iron, and increasing temp in increments to see if I can soften it without holding it near actual flame. Will let you know what happens! At least they're be a back-up coil, in that both executive sizes -- Fusion and Panda -- have their own coil and I'll be combining into one book. I'll look forward to your Panda interview; I always learn from your videos! Thanks again for your help!

Really appreciate your reviews, tips and input and have gotten several ideas from your videos. I’m left handed so when my rt. handed daughter showed me her Rocketbook, I immediately began researching to see if a flip top was available and was delighted to find one, love the no palm interference. I use it daily and use it so much that I’m considering buying another to keep dedicated beside my computer because I use my first so much. It’s my favorite Christmas gift. :) Like you, I appreciate the compactness of the Flip as well as not needing a specialized pen. We already had several Frixion pens due to their eraseability. I can’t say enough how much I love my Rocketbook. I’m already contemplating the first template I’d like to make. I’ve subscribed to your channel for more tips, hints and tricks. Thanks for your input on such a great tool.

The Flip might work too, and -- I'm still liking the magnetic fasteners on the Orbit. Palm interference is definitely a consideration. Anything so that I will use it more for notes, drawings, and doodles to help my attention span during meetings.

I'm really attracted by the product, but as a leftie, I'm curious. Any left-handed user here? How does it fare with the ink drying time when writing? Any smudges as you try to keep up with writing notes from a meeting or class? Thanks a lot! I really like your videos :)
@JakeReevesVideo
Жыл бұрын
I’m not a leftie, but over the years I’ve heard that it really depends on your palm positioning. If you would get pencil marks on your hand normally, it probably won’t be great. The ink is very sensitive to smudging for the first 15s or so. If you do look at one, I would recommend the Pro, Orbit or Flip because they are least likely to cause palm interference with the binding. Beyond that, you could always try the free pages you print at home - those don’t require you to use a specific pen and it’s paper ✌️

Hey great vid! I’m looking at getting the rocketbook flip since I’m a lefty but am scared about the ink smudging. Do you think I should still pick one up? Also, are there any pens that you can use with this that have faster drying times? Thanks!
@JakeReevesVideo
3 жыл бұрын
The ink smudging is a problem if your writing style causes you to drag your palm across the page after the ink is laid down - so it's worth being honest with yourself now about that and whether you think you'd be willing to change it. The time to smudge can be reduced by using thinner FriXion pen tips (see my recent video comparing the 0.7, 0.5 and 0.38mm tips), but not to a level that will stop the smudge from happening by a palm drag. Good luck with the decision and thanks for watching ✌️

That's a compromise for sure. If you're taking a big note, it becomes an issue in the standard side-coiled books as well when you have to flip eventually. Unfortunately, I think waiting to flip a page is just the compromise we make with Rocketbooks... The best way I've found to avoid it so far has been to use the thin 0.5mm pens instead of the 0.7mm ones because they dry faster. Lately I've been taking mostly 1-pg notes, so it hasn't been an issue for me - but that's why I wanted to point out that you can't do the 2-page spread as easily with the Flip. If you write on the backside of one page to start, then move to the next page without completely turning the page over, it would be essentially the same as before - though the notebooks may not fit as easily on a desk that way.

Another excellent video Jake! I just received Rocketbook Executive Flip I purchased after watching your video and had a question on using a Pen Station with an Executive Flip. Do you personally use a Pen Station with your Flip and if so where did you place it? I have a Rocketbook Fusion in the Letter size and have my Pen Station on the right inside of the rear cover. I'm wondering if on the Flip it would be better on the bottom or a side. Curious to hear what you and others recommend.

Thanks! I do use a pen station with my flip. I placed it on the side opposite of my palm (left side because I'm right handed) so that it wouldn't be a hindrance to writing, but bottom would work too 👍 Thanks for watching ✌️

I really don't like spiral notebooks because of palm interference. If I get the Everlast regular notebook, I will only use the pages on the right side (I am right handed), because I do like flipping the pages sideways. I will consider both options though, maybe for different purposes. Each has its pros and cons.

It may be worth taking a look at the Rocketbook Axis. It's still in design and will probably be a while before it's actually released to the public, but instead of a side coil it uses the same metallic magnetic cylindrical clasps as the Orbit, but on the side. Good luck with your decision 👍

Hi Jake, have you traid the Rocketbook with the Pilot Frixion Point? I think it writes with a 0.4 mm line...I don.t know if there is a thinner one. I like taking notes in normal paper with the Pilot G-Tec-C 4 which writes with a 0.27 mm line, and I was looking for the thinnest line I can write in the Rocketboot. Thanks for your videos!!!!

I'm glad you like the videos. I was concerned that a folio to carry the notebook would prevent you from turning the book over in addition to flipping a page. This is a restriction, but as it turns out Rocketbook has come out with a Folio to carry the notebook. I will reviewing it in the future, but you should know that, though you can flip the pages over sequentially, it does restrict you from writing on the backside of the page, as I was worried about. I hope this helps to clarify.
