It's the insurance and indemnity costs for a powered site. Not just the utilities. Unfortunately people bring their stupidity along with them while on holidays. @@pheart2381 That's because alcohol is not a necessity and people will stop buying it if the price goes too high, unlike food, electric, gas and fuel, where nobody has a choice. I can't comment on the caravan park shop but our little estate shop is really struggling. They're not profiteering, they're just struggling with increased energy bills, increased prices at the Cash & Carry, increased business rates and rent, increased insurance. A few months ago they were robbed and the milk fridge died. That cost them over three grand. A lot of people grumble about the prices in comparison to supermarkets but supermarkets benefit from economy of scale, holding the producers' feet to the fire etc. My estate shop is barely breaking even. Supermarkets profits are HUGE. The estate shop delivers to the elderly and disabled and if it folds, a valuable community resource will disappear.

I know that a lot of people are struggling with the price of food but if you compare the price of food when I was a kid and the average wage when I was a kid with now I'm pretty sure that food was more expensive then than it is now. I remember when Lidl first came to the U.K and absolutely nobody could work out how they could be selling things that cheap but then we kind of got used to it. From my personal perspective I have reacted to the hike in prices by being more careful what I buy and trying not to waste food which has offset the shock of the increases but I realise that there are plenty who didn't have the option to be so wasteful in the first place.

And to take them anywhere costs the minimum of £40, a trip to the cinema, by the time we’ve bought popcorn etc. Even a trip to the local park has a cost added to it, ie:- ice cream, coffee for granny and grand dad. I don’t know how young families, manage.

Gareth, as the saying goes. 'Make Hay While The Sun Shines' is what those businesses do while they can. Off season is dismal for income! Indemnity insurance costs are through the roof, that's why it's not cheap to stay at some holiday parks and recreation areas anymore. Plus the utilities and council rates are choking businesses to the point of collapse. Yes best come prepared when and where you can. Buy before, or you'll Pay later! But what a lovely area you have at your disposal. No shortage of oxygen being sucked up by hordes of tourists. Just relax and enjoy 👍😀 All the best to wife and lipy nippers. Cheers.

We love this Haven, we live in Whitehaven and don't drive do it's a easy Train ride away. The onsite prices are terrible but the couple of shops in Flookburgh are decent. Also, when we go to Haven we do a Tesco online shop and get it delivered to the caravan otherwise we'd be skint day one 🤣

I would never use a holiday camp supermarket....only for emergency items......track down the local Lidl or other local supermarket ....if you can buy things beforehand....so you have something to eat and drink when you arrive....milk, tea coffee, bread etc....i know not everyone has a car so could be difficult....but maybe arrange an on line shop for when you get there x

That's about the normal prices for most places in the USA now, prices have practically doubled over the last 5 years, I don't know how the young and the old live. Being middle-aged and working in a large warehouse I get a decent check, even tho we have only gotten about a 30 percent wage increase in the last 5 years, nowhere enough to keep up with the cost of living. All I know is things have to change or something will happen. Large grocery stores like Walmart have pulled out of the Chicago area because people have been shoplifting so much, I'm old enough to remember when people were screaming to get large grocery stores into the area because small shopkeepers could basically charge whatever they wanted and it was such a relief to have Walmart and such stores, but now people are shoplifting and the people say it's only fair because big stores make such a profit, unfortunately the big stores are pulling out, that will mean more smaller stores, higher prices because he small shop owners can't buy in bulk, and more shoplifting because people are poor and more violence when shopkeepers try to protect their stores. This is a vicious cycle, and the poor always get the short end of the stick. Anyway, thanks for the video, please keep them coming, and have a good holiday, it sounds like you and your young ones need a break.

Looks kind of similar to the prices in cinemas where they know that they can get away with the pricing due to convenience, which is no surprise that some people take in their own food n drink

Pleased you had a good time. It looks a nice place. Expensive for a tent, wow. All the shops at holiday destinations are expensive as you say they know you will pay, lot of time you dont have a choice as yoj say they got you. These places are mega expensive now with all the price increases in your normal supermarket then these places add even more. I dont know where we are going with it all apart from up up and up. 😢

The onsite shops are usually run as a concession so the shop operator has to pay a hefty fee to the site owners hence the higher prices and yes they are relying on you forgetting things before you travel

When you booked the holiday, it should tell you the grade of caravan that you paid for. Eg deluxe, prestige, platinum etc. great video. I love caravan holidays. Though they have gone expensive too. I always found the on site shop far too expensive. The issue is convenience and they know you may have travelled a long way, so you’ll pay over the odds for bread, milk etc. it won’t ever end… unless the camp sites close!

Looks like a nice place to holiday with kids but the staff should be wearing balaclavas! I suppose if it's a long drive to a market, it's better to pay more for the convenience of the holiday camp shop than the petrol it costs to drive off-site to pick up the one or two things you forgot. Keep up the great videos!

The Caravans/mobile homes are fitted out lovely now(like yours) but if anybodies thinking about living in one full time because they`re much cheaper than a house; look into the pitch fees first. The charges here in Hampshire are approx. £7000 + per year. You still have to pay for your gas,electric and water on top of that+ many sites require you to leave site for 2 months of the year.
@BaldFoodieGuy

In terms of the prices, it's like looking into the future. If food inflation keeps on its current trajectory, those are prices you'll be paying in the supermarkets in six months to a year. Also note how the milk being sold was not in pints but in litres. From 568ml to 500ml. Already the case that filtered milk is sold in litres.

This reminds me of supermarkets (and fuel prices) at M-way Service Stations. Captive audience. However, I live next to an Aldi, also opposite a Co-Op Petrol Station. The price differences are astronomical! The cheapest bottle of own brand wine is £6.50, in the latter. The only advantage, is that you rarely have to queue! 😉😉

Your right Gaz, the site shop has its own prices and if you find your self short of something you go to the site shop and take it right up where the sun don’t shine unfortunately, it’s not the price of the shop product as such it’s the price of desperation and they absolutely know it … but hey it’s holiday and they want your spending money unfortunately. Great content and something different 👍👍
