If Whitney or TLC had released this song it would have been a worldwide smash.

I remembered this song because I was dreaming about it as I was waking up one morning. It's not a song I would usually remember normally. Perhaps it has much unique sounds not frequent in other songs. Nevertheless this is high quality music

so i have a strange story, when Deni used to work for 2 day FM in sydney she pulled up to the skate park i was skateboarding in and interviewed me live on radio, one of my friends told me to say something stupid when asked what my favorite saying was " sk8tin for satin " LOL and she said something like " i can't approve of that ", just so happened my mum was listening on her car ride home and knew it was me on the radio, the conversation when i got home was not fun

“That Word (L.O.V.E.)”, probably better than any other record, distils the essence of Australian pop’s headspace in 1992. Relentless optimism was the vibe of 1992 Australia. Whilst the rest of the planet was mired in grunge and gangsta rap, we were all about bright colours and brighter smiles. It didn’t matter the genre; it could be faux-reggae (this), faux-house (Euphoria aka Australia’s Milli Vanilli!), girl-group dance-pop (Girlfriend, possibly the most influential Australian pop group of the 90s!) or indie-pop (Frente), the vibe was constantly and relentlessly upbeat.

Love this comment! Australia really was churning out great music this 90s era...soon "Savage Garden" were gonna come out...and Merril Bainbridge had a huge international hit with "Mouth". This 90s era probably was the final peak of decent Australian music. Once streaming came in...it really is impossible for any Aussie artists to get support internationally or even locally. I mean, this Deni Hines video looks expensive. New Aussie singers don't get given big budgets anymore for Music Videos or promotion, like they did in the 90s...

Indecent Obsession, sound unlimited posse, screaming jets. Ratcat was our grunge (until silverchair and other groups broke out a little later). And the Late Show rose to the peak of champagne comedy, overtaking the immensely popular skit comedy like Fast Forward and Comedy Company.

@MaleOrderBride I think aussie music as its own unique scene was dead by the late 90s. The late 70s and 80s was its high point imo.
