You hear ignorant people saying Rocky movies are just stupid, unrealistic boxing wannabe blockbusters, when in reality they miss the whole point. It's a franchise about *life*. Doesn't matter if Rocky was a boxer or a lawyer. The message, the journey through life, the steps, they're the same.

I love the movies, possibly one of my favorite series of movies. As if action movies are ever truly realistic. I watched this as a child and only really enjoyed the boxing and the music training montages. Now as an adult I can appreciate the whole storyline about rocky coming from being a "bum" to a millionaire then broke again because life is not all sunshine and fairytales.

Adrian's speech is the antithesis of Mickey's speech. Mickey discouraged (albeit unintentionally) Rocky because Clubber was an opponent he felt Rocky couldn't defeat. Adrian on the other hand reminded Rocky that he's a champion who is never afraid to take on an opponent no matter how formidible he is. I never viewed Rocky as a boxer....but rather an embodiment of the struggles we all have to face and overcome in life. Our "Clubber Lang" could be the following: Unemployment Divorce Depression Anxiety Drugs and alcohol

For an 1980s movie for a strong male protagonist to admit weakness and fear is quite exceptional. It wouldn't be so remarkable in movies nowadays but back then the strong macho male image ruled supreme with big strong action protagonist ruling the silver screen (of which Stallone himself was a big part). It was only much later in the very late 1990s and early 2000s where popular action heroes weren't these invincible strong men. Movies such as the Bourne series come to mind while previously it was all Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal,.... hardly people you would consider as being like a regular joe.

These movies are so inspiring. The boxing is just a back drop in the way the civil war was for gone with the win. Rocky & Adrienne have the kind of love story that I think is the most beautiful I've ever seen. They made eachother better. Her love & faith made him beat apollo but want to be more than just another bum from the neighborhood. His love for her took away her shyness & gave her confidence . I love the details bc they are so true. When she fell in love with rocky she started to dress nicer grow her hair more & have it done. Put on make up & ditched the glasses. When ur in love u start taking more pride in it appearance. I loved that bc it's so true to life. I always wondered why they didnt have more children. Maybe the scare with robert was why. Anyway Adrienne was like rockys lobster. Once he found his love he mated for life! He never cheated on her , or flirted with other women. After she died he was still faithful bc he could never love anyone else again. He gave her his heart & he could never get it back. She was with him when he had nothing. The sweetest scene was when they got married & she said " I hope it will always be like this " & rocky said " you're never getting rid of me" he would not leave her bedside & would not see their baby until she did. Just beautiful. I also loved when she bought him butkis & he saw her & said " yo" & she said " yo" back. So cute. Also u can't count out Maryanns love for apollo. She took in & adopted apollos love child with another woman. When adonis mom died she went straight to get him . She loved adonis bc he was part of the man she loved. How many women out there would do that. She gave Adonis everything she gave her own children with apollo. Otherwise bc he liked to fight had no mom his future did not look bright. He would have went to foster care . She picked him up from a juvenile detention center. He was probably about 12 but he always called her mama. I dont know if their is gonna be a creed 3 but I wish we could see adonis with his half brother & sister. I also would love an apollo origins story. I always figured apollo may not have had a dad around maybe he walked or was dead bc duke told rocky that apollo was a son to him. Apollo was a very articulate educated man when we meet him in rocky 1 so I'd love to see his story up to where his story begins in rocky. A rocky origin story would be cool but we kinda have the idea that he did not have any family & he started boxing around 23 when he picked his nickname. I think with the creed legacy being such a hit I think exploring apollos back story would be awesome.

How did this actress not fall in love with Sylvester Stallone? Man, Sylvester Stallone was really handsome when he was younger.

The Loner She was mentally abused by the director. She quit being a actress for awhile because of the mental trauma. She was a bad critic of *Kubik??* Forgive me for not spelling his name correctly. Anyway, she wanted the role and got it. He made sure she would pay one way or the other. She was trashing him and his films for years. Research it.

@@sirpuss5887 What are you talking about? That wasn't Talia Shire, that was Shelley Duvall, and apart from being dark they don't look anything alike. You're right about what Kubrick did to Duvall, it was appalling. But,Talia Shire is Francis Ford Coppola's sister, I doubt she would've taken the crap Kubrick handed out to Duvall, and I doubt he would've tried it with her.
