It was the consistency of demon like training that made him so great. This is why he came into a sport as a complete novice, then took it over and completely dominated it in just 8 years. My favorite fighter period. A story that anyone can do it no matter how disadvantaged
@louisj.marciano3390
5 ай бұрын
I appreciate the spirit of what you’re saying however, it’s a misnomer that Rocky was disadvantaged as he used his stature to his advantage in close to shorter arms, allowed him to throw short punches with greater power and effective leverage than his opponents with who had longer arms, Rocky Crouch to make himself Even shorter it was to his advantaged you understand that Rocky Marciano didn’t feel like he was disadvantaged in anyway the press has created that narrative but Rocky Marciano, although humble was an extremely confident fighter and to be quite frank. He preferred taller, larger men. He said it was more real estate and that you couldn’t miss when opponent was that large.

Rocky made only 6 defences of his title. 1. Against the man he took the title from, 38 year old Joe Walcott. 2. Two fights against former middleweight and light heavyweight Ezzard Charles, who was the first man to take Rocky the distance in a 15 round title fight. 3. Against Roland La Starza. 4. Against Don Cockell 5. And his last defence was against 41 year old former light heavyweight Archie Moore. Who were the previous 43 opponents Rocky fought to pad up his record ? Who were these guys ? This is why Muhammad Ali, in spite of his loses, has a better resume than Marciano. Because after Ali made a comeback after nearly 4 years in exile, in which he was previously undefeated, he beat Oscar Bonavena, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Ron Lyle, George Foreman, George Chuvalo and Ernie Shavers.
