Hi, James! I have a question :) Maybe it's a little stupid. Is there a difference in sound between the previous generation rode and the new one? I mean the frequency response and other characteristics such as the ratio of the noise level to the useful signal, microphone sensitivity, etc. Or is it technically correct to say that these are the same microphones? (the same device inside, the same elements, etc.) Or is the difference simply in the ability to have a higher signal bit rate, dsp and usb connectivity? p.s. I hope my question is clear and precise in wording, cuz I'm not a native english speaker 😅😉

@HarvinderSingh-yy8th
Жыл бұрын
Why don't to get it metallic painted.
@hellolau
Жыл бұрын
@@HarvinderSingh-yy8th It is generally not recommended to paint the metallic grille of a microphone, as doing so can affect the acoustic properties of the microphone and potentially degrade its performance. The grille is typically designed to be acoustically transparent, which means it allows sound waves to pass through it without causing significant distortion or attenuation. If you were to paint the grille, it could change the way that sound waves interact with the surface of the microphone, leading to changes in frequency response, sensitivity, and other important performance characteristics. In addition, painting the grille could also affect the durability and longevity of the microphone. The paint could potentially chip or flake off over time, which could interfere with the operation of the microphone or even damage it.

Hi james. You mentioned in a previous video that shotgun mics are better for voiceover work if you are just starting out and dont have a booth or sound proofed room, is that still the case or would you recommend this mic instead of a similarly priced shotgun mic?
@JamesYounger
Жыл бұрын
Hey there! It's not that there necessarily "better" for voice over work, it's just that shotgun microphones tend to reject more ambient sound around you do to their tighter polar pattern, as in they only pick up what's right in front of the microphone and do a pretty good job at rejecting sounds that come from around the microphone. So technically they would be better in a room that's not quite as soundproofed as you'd like (A room that's letting in a little too much noise) however, shotgun mics are still REALLY sensitive just like large diaphragm mics are and will still pick up a lot of noise if the mic is facing said noise. How loud are the noises in your space?
@marcrow7817

More than anything, I'd need to hear your audio to be sure it sounds good enough, but for what you're doing you could definitely make the blue yeti work. As long as you set good levels, have good microphone technique (not too close or too far away, around 3 to 6 inches away) and your space is acoustically treated, you will likely sound totally fine.
