Howdy, Ryan, do you live in or near Prescott. We're going to be in Prescott March 12 through 15 and we'd sure like to meet you. We'd like to do a short interview with your Dad, if possible, and would like to talk with you about using the Rodeo song on our US 89 Team project. Thank You, John Parsons us89team@gmail.com us89team.com

I remember the "Palace Saloon". It's now more a restaurant nowadays though. When I watch JR Bonner the scenery brings back memories.

Best damn cowboy song of 'em all, and love that steel! The 2nd verse was a little different in the movie because they were in Prescott: "I picked up $35 bucks in Reno, couldn't get a decent ride, But I'll do alright in the Frontier Days unless all the good bulls die I was raised in the town of Prescott, I got the home folks on my side, I'm gonna win top money, I'm a rodeo man"

Include this 'country rock n roll song' with Waylon Jennings "Donna on My Mind" as go-go-boot songs (for you ladies of the late 1960's /early 70's yrs) and forget the rougher Leonard Skynard songs that were 'souther rock'

Hello Ryan, just noticed that Asphalt Cowboy was added to the album, just to let you know the song was written by me in early 1966 and have the copyright on the music and lyrics, the song was supposed to be wheels a rolling gears a grinding double clutching crew, the guy that basically stole the song did not get all the words correct so everyone i know recorded the song with the word threw or through i don't know the spelling they put on there, anyway i never received any royalities on the song and another song i wrote was Sweet Thang was recorded by several artist and it was stolen and a fake copyright i think was filed by Nat Stuckey under a fake name in Shreveport La, at little recording studio in 1966

Wow! I had no idea. This same thing happened to Dad for songs he wrote in the 60s and 70s too. Did the album credits show who wrote (or got credit for writing) Asphalt Cowboy? I thought the only songs written by Dad on that album were Hooked on Honky Tonks and CB Savage, but I will have to check. Thanks for letting us know. It’s a great song!
