Hello. When in the spring do they start growing new leaves? It's mid-April and mine hasn't produced a single shoot as yet. I'm starting to get concerned, but the plant appears to be okay with little nodules protruding from the soil - just no sign of growth.

Mine are poking up now in the garden, some more than others. I don't know where you are but I'd give it a bit longer before getting worried.

I had a few I bought at garden sales in the fall and they disappeared over the winter. I guess they might need more watering as they were stressed under the trees in the fall drought. How do they propagate and are they invasive or out compete at all?

Hi there. Yes, I do think you need to give rodgersia plenty of water, especially when it is young. Propagation would be by seed for the species types shown in the video and of course also by division if you grow your clump big enough. I have never heard of rodgersia being invasive.

Hi! I need to transplant my rodgersia, it's late spring, do you think it will survive the transplant?

It is too late to move it but if you must, water it really well, dig it up and cut all the foliage back. It stands a better chance of establishing if it doesn't have to contend with keeping foliage growing. You must keep an eye on it for the rest of the season, making sure it is kept well watered. It should be okay. Good luck.
