Just discovered Sixto last year on the day he passed- CBC Radio did s tribute to him. I sat in my car listening and was absolutely transfixed at the strength of his songwriting. Genius. Incredible lyrics. Amazing guy, total Zen. His second album might be even better than this one- the song "Cause" might be my favorite of his. One can only imagine that if he had found initial success, he might have left a legacy of dozens of astounding albums instead of hinging it up to work in menial jobs around Detroit. RIP to a precious, brilliant star.

I think he would've been as big as Cat Stevens.

Remember seeing the movie Searching for Sugar Man when I was 18. Couldn't believe the true story of Sixto. Haven't listened to his stuff in a while. Still get chills when I hear that I wonder baseline. Brings back memories.

Every South African grew up with this music. He is a legend here. The documentary will have you in tears. Incredible story of a man who believed he never made it.

Sixto Rodriguez was about as popular in South Africa during the apartheid era as Elvis Presley was in America during the early 60s. His songs were considered anthems of the struggle. A great talent and a very nice man! Unfortunately, a favorite song of mine is not on this album - A Most Disgusting Song. Check it out.

The documentary won the 2013 Oscar. He didn't attend and he didn't even watch them as he didn't have a television. What an incredible but a sad story about the 'what if's'. Absolutely loved it.
