Would you ever consider doing bands like the Byrds, Love, Jefferson Airplane, Buffalo Springfield etc? Plenty of critically acclaimed and influential albums to review. The problem with bands like Manfred Mann etc is that they were purely singles outfits. Now the Kinks is a different kettle of fish and worth a deep dive.

It's a shame the Yardbirds didn't sit down and tried working on a more cohesive follow up album. They were too occupied with touring at the time which lead to Beck having a breakdown and eventually leaving the group. Shame really, but we might not of had Led Zeppelin.

They were a big influence on a lot of sixties garage bands. Alice Cooper and Aerosmith were big fan. Great album but tinny production.

Happy New year you two (somewhat belated I guess). Interesting that you mentioned Fleetwood Mac, I listened thorugh Rumours a few times the other week (and ehm...also Little Lies way too often, sorry) and I felt like exactly what I suspected it would sound like from only really knowing a Cover of "Go your own way". Also, which Manfred Mann album are you doing? In only know "The good earth", but my dad keeps insisting to listen more to them..

Love Manfred Mann, but they don't really have any significant albums worthy of review.

They were clearly more experimental here which is why Eric left Eric wanted to be a Blues guitarist and didn't want to do any pop.

I get to wear my God Save The Kinks shirt in anticipation If I could reorder their early albums a bit and add the lost singles and b-sides in, it would be a much different story told by the music. But since I’m not Spotify, that’s bad practice.

I'm probably the only person that thinks the follow up to this Yardbirds "little games" is a great album. It's poppy, but If only for Page early experiments with recording techniques and guitar sounds and JP jones on bass on a few songs.

it is funny that you are reviewing music from 50 years before. Was anyone in 1966 reviewing 78s from 1916? Keep them coming, (don't review music from WW1)

I haven't listened to the Yardbirds in a long time - I had a compilation, never heard an actual album by them. I think that says it all IMO - some great tracks but not an album band. Very important though.

lol, good point. They are the default 'why the 70s had to happen' band.
