I finally got a few pairs of the 45’s from Rep and they are such an improvement over my old CAP plates. Great review!

What is the weight tolerance on the REP plates? Brandon Campbell said the weight tolerance on the Rogue is less than 1%. That's a very accurate plate in my opinion and would be willing to deal with the sharp edges of Rogue if I know what's on the bar is what I think is on the bar.
@dunhamti
4 жыл бұрын
1% I believe on 45-25 and 2% on the rest for the Rogue. REP plates are 2%. So, we are talking a potential difference of 1/2 of a pound on a 45 lb plate. Seeing how the Rogue could be off close to 1/2 and the REP close to 1 lb. Honestly, when I went back and weighed all of mine everything was within 1/4 lb on average.

How do they compare when deadlifting? Are the rep plates better there as well?

I use bumper plates for deadlifts so not sure but I would surmise similar based on both having machined centers.

After using both for awhile I like deadlifting with the Rogue plates. The holes are just easier to get ahold of at that angle.

Td GYM would bumper plates wear down after awhile deadlifting? I’m between the rogue six shooters and echo bumpers. I don’t do any Olympic lifts or drop weight, so the bumpers would only help with noise or if one accidentally falls to the ground. I am just worried about how long the bumpers would last compared to the iron.

The "popularity" of REP products are one of the reasons why products are not readily available. REP Fitness diligently replenishes their inventory in a timely manner. Also, thank you for admitting you are OCD/Picky/Easily bothered.

Rep isn't more popular than Rogue by any stretch. They are however a smaller company that runs out of stock. Easily bothered 😂. I've purchased enough from both companies to get a pretty good baseline on availability.
@advancedchemistry1028

@@dunhamti I didn't say "Rep is more popular than Rogue." Certainly, Rep has a following and potential customers interested to purchase their products. That is the "popularity" I stated and perhaps that could be one of the reasons their inventory is out of stock. You purchased Rep products in the past. Ask customer service why inventory is out of stock, so that you can constructively inform us viewers of product availability. Instead of stating "Rep is always out of stock" and immediately indicating negative concerns with potential gym equipment companies. No worries, I am a smart consumer. I contact companies I am interested to do business with and ask the necessary questions. The problem with gym equipment reviewers are, "some" are biased (Cooper for example) and "some" are quick to criticize product quality...At the present time I can only afford CAP Products. I started training with CAP weights in my early 20's and recently purchased CAP Olympic weights, bench, Joe Weider Olympic weights, and Zeny (Walmart Chinese Brand) squat stand...Not the best quality, but I for sure am not complaining. In fact, I am extremely fit and in the best shape for a middle aged man. IMO, decent gym equipment and training consistency gets the job done. Your video vlog was helpful with your review and I was able to see the quality of the Rep Olympic plate, which is one of my picks for a future purchase. Thanks for your response and time.

@@advancedchemistry1028 Nothing wrong with CAP weights. Good price and plenty of availability. I buy them all the time on the used market. I think it's fair to share my experience. Not biased, I buy from everyone lol. I think Coop is less biased than comes across. That's just me though.

I love my old school iron plates that I bought second hand for 60 cents a pount. I like them more than any iron plates that I've seen getting produced today. Rogue makes most of their stuff in the USA, but I think plates are one of the few things that they sell that is produced in China which is probably why they are a lower quality than the stuff they produce in house.

@ladouceurmatt

The benefit of the offset holes are when you grab the two holes on the sides and put on the bar with logo looking even on the bar. Example is when you are testing putting the plates on the bar. When putting the rogue one on, the rogue lettering wasn’t even with bar as oppose to the rep letting was.

There’s just so many better places to spend your money than with Rogue... Unless your sole purpose is to “pay a little more to support American jobs” *best part is Rogue is outsourcing to China more and more and still charging American sourced and manufactured prices*
