Very awesome playthrough! You did a really good job with the rules and playing correctly for your first live game. You had a lot of fun and got a full experience of ups and downs, Kudos!

It's very easy to miss a few nuances in the rules, so I'll summarize a few things that were off to clarify these situations for other players. You would have gained 2 additional XPs on passing the Maze with your Loaf of Bread. Loaf of Bread: Discard to pass Maze and gain an additional 2 XP. Whenever you leveled your Vitality, like paying 5 XP and when you got Breastplate of Vitality, you would also gain 1 Health. You would have gained a +1 to the camping roll on Level 4 from Blessed, so you would not have ended up fighting Medusa at that point. Blessed]: ...Add +1 to Camping Gear rolls... You skipped a yellow at the end of level 4 by inadvertently covering it with the purple token when you drop a card. You would draw 2 loots for each level 5 monster you defeated. so you would have had a lot more gear going into the Boss fight, at least 5 extra. You would have activated Basilisk's Stone Flesh ability on the '6' combat roll. You would have activated Ogre Mage's Lightning ability on the '6' combat roll.

Wow, I missed way more than I would have guessed, thanks so much for pointing these out and clarifying! You've made everyone who watches this a better player. My excuse is... playing the digital version first made me lazy because it does such a good job of handling everything! 😅 The game is great, I hope to be able to play more in the future. For anyone wondering about two d10's for the rolls, I ended up liking it a ton, it's a great way to handle the difficulty setting (it's different than the app, currently, anyway). Edit: added the below: 1:38:24 Basilisk combat 6 (Stone Flesh) roll 1:49:53 Ogre Mage combat 6 (Lightning) roll Apparently I'm blind to 6's. Interestingly, both of these rolls were a tie (we both got hit).

It's infectious watching someone play something and have a good time. It makes you want to have the same experience. Great job showing off the game and making it fun for others.

Thanks for posting this! I just found Rogue Dungeon. As you said, the physical version isn't currently available. I purchased the Steam and IOS versions and am absolutely loving it.

Nice! For anyone who wants tips: Don't be afraid to take 1 damage from traps on level 1. Especially when your hero starts with 6 health. Try to avoid using luck to reroll in general. Use it when it's guaranteed to change the outcome. You can spend loot to pass checks after the roll, so on the maze, roll first and you might keep your loaf of bread, same with the lockpick on the prison cell. On the maze, you had 2 intellect, so there's a chance you roll a 3 and actually draw a loot card instead of taking damage. You really, really wanted to trade for the wise man, if for no other reason than to save your sellsword from the sirens. I would definitely use a shield scroll before using gauntlet of power as a strength hero. You might have forgotten you had the scroll. You can use armor or the shield scroll or even (as of 2nd edition) a henchman to block trap damage. When you camped on level 4, not only like Albert said you were safe because of blessed, you could have walked back to the stairs to ensure you didn't draw a monster. I love that you ended up with a complete set of armor for a two-headed hero at some point. For the boss, you might have been better off spending your XP on luck and maybe hand of god than strength.

Excellent! These are all great insights and hopefully anyone seeing your comments remembers them. They make perfect sense and would have made things much better for this play.

During setup I shuffled the cards and mixed in "Tomb" map cards with my "Dungeon" layout cards. I'm not sure it matters, they're all balanced the same. Level 5 creatures award 2 Loot cards each, I only took 1 each. Right after this game I played another quick run on PC with the same character. Here's the final 2 minutes. And what luck, the same boss... kzitem.info/news/bejne/wp5-vXVtqKZkkoo

Like you said, you can use whichever maps you want. Thematically, there are maps for the "Dungeon" and "Tomb" but it's purely aesthetic

This one is a winner, for sure. I dig it. It hits all the right beats for an old school dungeon crawl.
