such good, versatile playing. this is how amp reviews should go imo; reasonably shows what each feature does and how it sounds at different levels, tries out different genres in different settings, and not too shredy nor too soft playing. kudos to you, tom.

This review is a masterclass in how to do it. Three minutes introducing the product, its features and the way that it is being recorded (important). Another three minutes going over the FX; and then a few more minutes demonstrating (very effectively) the various amp models. Then a one minute round up. Concise and efficient review. And you may notice that TQ is not much of a slouch on the guitar, either!

At 5.40 you refer to the 'Extreme' setting in relation to the 'Chorus EFX'. The 'Extreme' setting actually relates to the gain in the 'AMP TYPE' where the overdrive may be regarded as extreme. Champion demo though.. Probably the best on KZitem I'd say. Well done! Re: Memory function (for those who have asked how it works). Each amp type allows a memory to be stored for EFX, Delay/Reverb, Gain, Volume and Tone (NOT Master volume conveniently). Once you have your settings how you like them, you just hold the Memory button until it flashes and it will store all of the said settings for that particular 'AMP TYPE'. You can do this for all of the 'AMP TYPE' selections. It's very handy for getting your desired settings without tweaking every time you change AMP TYPE. For example: AMP TYPE = Black Panel EFX = Off DELAY/REVERB = dialled in to short slap back (9 O'clock) GAIN = 2 O'clock Volume = 12 O'clock Tone = 11 O'clock Now hold MEMORY button down until it flashes and the Microcube will store those settings. You can repeat this for all of the AMP TYPE models and the Microcube will store the respective settings. Thus - 8 AMP TYPE models = 8 MEMORY modes. You can then turn the memory button ON/OFF to engage the presets. Lastly, you can change the settings in the MEMORY modes by tweaking either of the mentioned settings. This will not affect the MEMORY mode unless you hold the MEMORY button down until it flashes. Hopefully this has helped those questioning how the MEMORY works : )

Some of the best clean sounds for any small practice amp out there. Especially on the Jazz Chorus setting. In fact, it has one of the sweetest chorus and flanger effects ever as well. I have a Fender Mustang 1 for a bedroom amp but for making KZitem and Facebook videos, this Roland Micro is definitely my go to amp for the living room.

i love this amp. i have had it for a few months. rectifier with 50% gain. it's a little weak on reverb, though you can squeeze more out by turning up the (left) volume knob, and put the master volume way down. the battery life is ridiculously good. it claims 15hrs, and i'm pretty sure i have been on battery for more than that, and have never had to change the batteries yet.

Just bought the last one from Sweetwater as a demo. Unfortunately in white but as a beginner I’m not worried about aesthetics considering my Epiphone special ii already has a loose cable jack?! I think it’s because I was playing sitting on the bed and the way the cable sticks out it put pressure on the jack. I noticed it crackling last two times I played it. I bought a right angled Ernie ball braided cable which hopefully will help with the stress. I’m wondering if I could replace the loose jack myself… as it’s only 4-screws and maybe some soldering which I can do. I just want to jam and the Electar 10 amp is just terrible for any kind crunchy or metal sound. I don’t want an amp that is PC dependent as I don’t own a PC anymore since I’ve had my iPhone the past 5-10yrs. I’m excited for this amp! I played in the 90’s as a teen with a Marshall practice tube amp (Fender squire strat I got off my brothers friend for $300 all in with cables)for about 6/months and just gave up. My old 90’s Fender squire strat was definitely better quality than this Epiphone LP special ii but the fun factor is so much more now that I appreciate it more. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🤘
Nice playing youth,When I was looking for a small practice amp,i tried a micro cube it was ok,but in the end went for a fender mustang v1which now sounds even better now I have uncorked it,by making an open window in the rear panel as traditional combo amps !Granted the fender is larger, but in my case size did not matter. The effects on the fender are much stronger,as are the amp models, down side no battery function, but I have a super tech battery with inverter which can run the amp for 7hrs.

Haha, Tom, the further you got into this demo, the more shredding occurred! (once a shredder, always a shredder, eh?) Still, great demo and of course, your playing is great! I just picked up an older Microcube on the flea market in Tokyo, hasn't quite got the same features but it's more than good enough for me. And it was dirt cheap too! 2000 yen, that's about 15 quid! Going busking in Shibuya tomorrow if the weather holds! First time in ages, been missing it! I think it'll probably pay itself back in about 15 minutes! ;) I managed to hook up a mic as well, using a simple headphone splitter, so I can sing as well! Weyhey!

I hope to be wrong, but i think this amp lis a bit, not only this micro, i talk about any Roland Cube, either 40gx and 80gx. Please let me know if im wrong. I have this one, Micro Cube GX and im fascinated with two types of amps that i use to practice, Brit combo (VOX AC-30) and Classic Stack (Marshall JMP1987), i love them ...but i think in real life or the real models dont have the amount of gain that you have in this amps, is great for leads, i dont like Metal sound like Rectifier and Xtreme, i like the British sound .. i have been seeing a lot of videos and reviews of this two models (VOX AC-30 and Marshall JMP1987) and i have not seen a video when they get that amount of gain, the max level of gain they can gave is like a crunchy but far from leads.
