I'm sad with my RD2000. I purchased a used RD2000, from very far away, I couldn't test it, but trusted the vendor. Finally the piano is here, it's all working, but the keybed is noisy. Many keys, when you beat on them from the side, make an annoying noise, or when you play staccato. I hear a noise like the keys are loose, although they work perfectly. On the phones, or on the sound system, no problem, but I purchased it just for using with Kontakt, the mechanism is essential. And I'm neurotic about mechanisms and their noises. Oh, God ! 😮😮😮

Thanks for this Ben. Planning to buy the RD2000.Your videos are great, well thought out and informative Just wondering if an entire Scene can be saved as a start up sound by using the "one touch piano button"

John Drapeau great question. Because memory locations in the RD-2000 seem to be capable of holding up to 8 zones per program, I imagine it would be very easy for Roland to add the ability to save a scene as a startup sound (to the One Touch Piano) button in the future. Right now however, that is limited to tones, and not accessible to programs or scenes.

Another good job. One suggestion, you might want to consider raising the volume on your voice alittle, the keyboard volume is fine. Questions: How many user locations are there available for programs? How many user scene locations available? Can you set a Rhythm patch with a particular tempo and rhythm pattern in a scene? If your using lets say Miroslav Orchestral as a plugin and set it in a program with a particular patch within Miroslav, when you save the program in the RD 2000 and then recall this program, does it send the program change information to Miroslav? I am sure I will have a few more questions later, but those come to mind quickly. Thanks Ben for the video.

Charles V thank you for the suggestions, I will remember that about the voice. There are 100 scenes slots and 300 program slots.

Charles V I'm sorry, I missed the latter part of your post! You can assign one rhythm in a scene or program, but you cannot assign individual rhythms per tone, so you could not have 8 different rhythms per program, but you could have one. As for the MIDI question, yes you can set up a scene or program that sends your programs changes via MIDI to any external gear or your DAW or host software where your plugins are.

Very good video. You briefly mentioned what you were changing in the first piano program you created. I would like to know more about the types of options this keyboard has for changing sounds. It will make for another long video, but I would love to see a demonstration of all of the options for the V-Piano sounds (I heard you say damper pedal noise, hammer noise, something with the lid, etc.). I would also like to see if there are any similar options for SuperNATURAL sounds (i.e. if are there any options specific to strings). Maybe also give a quick rundown of each of the options like reverb or cutoff that are available. Edit: For a lot of people, this may be their first serious keyboard, so this would be appreciated even if you can find many of the same features on, say, the RD-800. One of my interests is improving the strings. I am pretty disappointed by the default strings, but I would buy this keyboard without a second thought if I could make more realistic strings. Maybe with four overlapping splits that sound realistically like string sections (violin, viola, cello, bass). By the way, does the RD-2000 have an arpeggiator? I saw one demo where a single key press jumped around to different notes, but I heard that it can't arpeggiate chords.

I wasn't notified by youtube about this comment, my apologies! I will look into all this and continue making videos. I am working on one now showing ALL the sounds with no talking. As far as an arpeggiator, no, the RD-2000 does not have an arpeggiator.

Great Videos & very easy to listen to. As a Blind Musician I always look for videos that can do a lot of explanation. As a recent purchaser of a RD2000, I would like to ask how does one 'Transpose a Zone'? I have read the manuals but cannot get my head around this as yet! Many thanx!

Thx Ben. Can I simply choose 3-4 internal sounds and load them into zones without editing their tone, then save that as a scene? The videos I’ve been watching (including yours) seem to suggest I must first save the sound(s) as a program before saving it (or several of them) as a scene.

Thanks Ben for your helpfull videos on the RD 2000. Would you show us how different program files are saved. On the RD 700 you could store a list of Program files internally and switch from program file to program file easily and save them easily on a USD Stick. This doesnt seem to work on the RD 2000. The save and load procedures always require an external storage device (USB) and no list appears anywhere concerning what program files are now on the internal storage device. The "import" function was missed completely in the PDF parameter guide that Roland offers on the website. Do you have a comment or two on how this function cooperates with the save and load function? Thanks again for your input on these topics.

Hey Ben, I got ohne question: What kind of memory-usb do you use for the rd? I've got actually a usual kind of usb-stick of a company called "Intenso" from germany but the rd tells me always that there is no memory ready when it comes to formating or loading up any Song or Expansion... Is there maybe anyone else who got these problems?

Ben Allen thank you. So it is. While I have you here, do you have a favorite board with built in speakers? I’m not really sure what it is, but at the moment, I can’t seem to get into a keyboard that doesn’t have speakers, giving it the familiarity of an acoustic piano. I spent some time in my local music store with a Yamaha p125, the 660, and I’m trying to find somewhere that has a p515 to noodle around on.

Thanks for this video, it helped however I tried very carefully to follow you when saving a scene to a new location but I could not understand. Yes I can overwrite a scene but how to name and save a scene in a place without overwriting, I don't think you covered this.😕

Paul, I have not had time to make a video showing this yet, but these are the steps. 1. Choose a program or tone or set of tones and when you are ready to save as a scene, 2. Hold down the SHIFT button and press any of the blinking Tone buttons, which indicate free slots for a scene. 3. You can overwrite the existing ones that are not blinking by pressing one of these, but pressing a blinking Tone button will let you write a scene to that location within the chosen bank. This creates a NEW SCENE, and you can have 10 sets containing 10 scenes each, for a total of 100 scenes. Hope this helps! Ben

Having access to layer up to 8 tones doesnt make sense if polyphony issues arises, Korg have long solved that problem where u have 16 tones , if roland is limited by polyphony they can as well just give us what the keyboard can handle, and not try to place 8 sliders as marketing gimmick
@benallen5967
7 жыл бұрын
atere olusola you make good points, but I think Roland likely was not counting on people using all 8 sounds layered at once, frankly, this instrument isn't made for that, even if you did layer 8 on top of one another, it would be a muddy mess. Based on my use in a live setting, the best way to use the RD-2000, is to use the zones like a mixer where you call up a combination of sounds, but personally I only use at most, two sounds at once. I may layer external sounds in Logic, and control those with the external sliders, but usually, still I only layer a few sounds at once. I prefer a simple and clean approach to my sound set up. The RD excels at this kind of set up.

Ben Allen ok thanks , one question, while using the external ( midi source) does your the sound output come out from, keyboard or computer
@benallen5967
7 жыл бұрын
atere olusola good question. Technically speaking, it is both! Your RD-2000 acts as a USB interface, so all the sounds you might normally hear from your computer, instead come out of the RD-2000. This is awesome since you don't have to carry an extra interface for playing in live situations. You plug a USB cable into your Mac or PC and then into the RD-2000. It works very well.
