@@cheynewalls I destroyed two Rolex Oysters working in the field. I worked in physical oceanography. The G forces was beyond their capabilities. The first one I sold for nothing, and the second one I had to have there entire movement replaced 🤣🤣. Believe it or not I had way better service from Timexs both mechanical and quartz, so go figure. DGMR, I love luxury watches, and especially Rolex, but for a practical tough watch, Seiko beats the shit out of them.

Said by others but as the comments help the channel… Refreshing to see someone review a tool watch - that they have actually used as a tool watch. It came across very genuine. Congrats dude I only have a datejust (so not tool watch) but likewise, it just runs. Never been serviced, never been polished and doesn’t get taken off to wash the dishes - keeps excellent time 8 years later.

Awesome review buddy. This is Rolex's last true tool watch and it is great to see a review of a tool watch used as such. Scratches speak to the life of the watch. Great to see you loving and using this watch. I’ve worn an Explorer II for 8 years, the first 7 were with the previous model but I got the new one when it came out in 2021. If I was a one watch person it would be the one I keep. I’ve also dropped mine on hardwood, right when I got my first one, in a tiny hotel in Nepal, and it stayed accurate for the next 7 years without issue and is still going on the wrist of the guy I sold it to. It’s a perfect watch for adventures, I took mine with me to 6 continents. Enjoy!

In my opinion, the GMT complication is much more useful in real application than the dive timing bezel. As far as 100m water resistance goes, the odds of you “finding” yourself in a situation that 100m meters is not enough is unlikely. If you do dive and the 100 puts you off, then maybe just grab a GSHOCK or something for dive outings only. That’s my two cents

Only knocks I can think of are no quickset date so you have to advance the hour hand to dial in the date if this watch is part of a larger rotation. Plus brand recognition isn’t always welcome. @@cheynewalls the quickset idea is that it’s for international travellers like a GMT. You set the orange hand to hometime and shift the hour hand to the new zone. The date follows the hand. Then back again at home. Hilariously this wasn’t a GMT function originally. The whole second time reading was only to distinguish night or day in 24 hour mode when, wait for it, caving away from sunlight for days on end. Hilarious!

I am a scuba diver and have a Rolex Deep-Sea Dweller and an OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph with 600M is water resistant to 600 M/ 2000 feet / 60 bar, and has a helium-escape valve. The Omega is superior being a certified chronometer timepiece, which is powered by the in-house, Swiss Co-Axial calibre 3313! @@cheynewalls - it's a lot more likely to last 50+ years if it doesn't get stolen or smashed on rocks. Solar g-shocks can last decades without maintenance.
