Video is from the Super 8 footage shot for the Stones for the "Exile on Main Street" promo 4 years earlier. Guy who filmed it passed away not long ago. Song is from 1976. But the two jell together superbly.

The Rolling Stones catalog of great songs is is vast, sometimes you forget a song that you like only because it was released about the same time that other bigger hits were released. For me, such was the case of "Hand of Fate." I liked it when it came out on the "Black & Blue" album. Fast forward 30+ years. My wife & I were at a bar at sunset overlooking the bay at Charlotte Amalie, USVI, and the DJ put on "Hand of Fate." We both looked at each other and commented the song was so good it felt like we were really hearing it for the first time. It was a feeling we share to this day every time we hear it. What a powerful song!🤘

Mick Taylor was lead then so it made sense. He had left before Black and Blue and Ron Wood came in. Not even close to Mick Taylor who was their best guitarist easily. As many have said this lead is by Wayn Perkins who had tried out to replace Taylor. Ronnie is ok but he could never play a solo this good nor could he ever match Taylor's work.

My sisters older boyfriend(16yrs old) and i were playing horseshoes in his backyard when he popped 2 speakers into the back bedroom window and played this album.Hot Stuff was the 1st tune i heard off this album and i was hooked.I couldnt believe what i was hearing. It was like magic. Then Hand of Fate and i was blown away even more. Then Cherry Oh Baby.Topped the 1st side off with Memory Motel. What a band i remember thinking. Then he played side B Hey Negrita,Melody,Fool To cry,and the amped up Crazy Mama.Ill never forget that day for the rest of my life.It turned me onto the Stones which i ended up buying every album they ever put out plus countless bootlegs(not counting cds and cassettes) over the years. That fella Jim McQuade, passed away recently.
