I was there …near the front , Lee Cooper soft frisbees flying everywhere- fabulous day, I was 19. Nearly 60 now….think it was Micks birthday. I remember Joe Jackson taking a photo of the crowd from the stage. Great memories from a happier time . I have some photos I took almost at the front of the stage . J.Geils Band did a human pyramid with the band members, George Thorogood rocked the place , then Mick and the boys blew us away. What an afternoon that was! I bought the’ Still Life ‘ live LP of the American concert when I got home and played it a million times , the album cover reminded me of the show at Leeds . I have just realised it was exactly forty years ago today…25th July 1982. Am I really that old?

Julay 7 1982, in Madrid.. 48 degrees, clouds forming, getting dark, and right in the moment they came on stage, full night, come a pouring rain, a strong wind, and a great thunderstorm..! Last ten minutes.. The best concert of this tour.. After 1990 saw a lot of them, all the tours, with great stage productions, video walls, etc etc etc... After all this years I got the conclusion that the first one I saw in the date I had said, was the best concert and the best tour.. Love them all but 82 was special, simplicity, young, spontaneous, Keith and Mick at their best, with Ronnie and Charlie.. After 1990, non stop with great and huge production tours, etc... The really Stones was until 1982...After 1990 has been an amazing experience, but a huge internacional business company.. Don't complain about it.. But simply I saw the simplicity and energy of "old times" until 82, and the after..

Yes, the best stones concert I’ve seen was 75 at Hughes stadium ft Collins…..Chaka khan and Rufus, and Charlie Daniel’s band……mick spraying the crowd with firehose, Billy Preston…..this was concert that Keith told Elton John that he’d overstayed his welcome……stones agreed to let Elton sit in for one song………Keith extremely pissed when Elton stayed in…….one stare from Keith, and Elton summarily arose and beat it back to caribou ranch….ahh the good old days, the night before, the drive-in across the street hosted an all night party with local bands…they opened stadium doors at 8 am, and we picked our spot 50 feet in front of stage…….had backpacks full of weed, vodka, beer, whiskey…..healthy supply of dried goods…..no backpack checks, just good fun
