In French, we use the word «Case» which is a type of house, namely some kind of hut. In Gascon, we have : - Casa ⇒ House - Cadièra / Escabèla ⇒ Chair (I didn’t expect Portuguese to be so close on this one) - Cosina ⇒ Kitchen - Lheit / Leit / Liet ⇒ Bed - Crampa ⇒ Room / Bedroom

Man, that's actually really cool because that's what casa originally meant. In Latin, we have the word 'Casa' but it means an hut or a straw-house, the word romans would use for their home was 'domus' sometimes 'sedes' or 'aedes' is used.

I think a better Portuguese representation of casa in IPA would be /kazᵊ/ but the one shown could be a representation of some dialects, or when people are speaking unnaturally slow, for example.

An outdated word for bed in Romanian would be strat, from Latin stratum. So there is at least one Latin word for pretty much all of these.

Romanian is a very interesting neolatin language. But many times, it "runs away" from the Latin patterns.

@@davidjosegomes7768 It'true, but it runs away from the Western Romance languages patterns, but not from Latin. Romanian is a Eastern Romance language and it is very conservative taking into acount that it developed without any influence or contact with Latin during the Middle Ages. The standard Western Romance languages were influenced all the time by Latin as a language of the church and culture.

@@lunadeargint540 I know it. Romanian conserves Latin s declinations or cases in its Genitive, Dactive and Vocative. And neuter nouns. I study Romanian at home, by myself, and it is sometimes very complicate. Its changes in plural forms, the change of vowels in the interior of verbs during their conjugation etc.

Interesting. Knowing the meaning of these words beforehand, I can clearly see how they are related to French or Gascon/Occitan. I don’t think I could have guessed the meaning out of context though.

In portuguese câmara usually means whether a small chamber in a castle or an assembly where deputies meet. A room is sala and a bedroom is quarto (probably because people would say that it's their quarter of the house, who knows?). The word leito exists but seldom used to say a bed although the meaning is perfectly correct we never say leito to describe one's bed. However we say leito de morte (deathbed) or leito for the hospital beds, and of course o leito do rio means the middle and longest part of a river, after the source and before it ends at the sea or at a lake or whatever.

Sa vina oare ,,pat''in romana de la ,,patos''gr !? A sta ,,la pat'' pe vremuri insemna a suferi,a fi bolnav, a patimi.Astfel avem ,,patima'' ro compatimire, pasiune(pasa), compasiune. PATOLOGIE, passio(lat).Dar avem si A PAT(Z)I= PATI(lat). A fi pasionat de ceva = a suferi pentru ceva. Passiunea lui Isus Hristos.Si cat a evoluat sensul acestui cuvant... A devenit ulterior pentru francezi ,,fauteuil'',iar pentru romani,,futelnitza".
