half of my family is from Hunedoara(where Corvin Castle is) and honestly I would recommend going to Retezat mountains, the mountains are the best part of Romania. Also, near Bran, if u get the chance, there's a couple of villages I like more than Fundata, they're called Magura and Pestera. Also, I think a must do would be the only volcanic lake in Romania, it's called Sfanta Ana and it's in a beautiful area also in the Transylvanian region, there's also a unique area there, like a quagmire, with a lot of rare plants.

I love visiting outlying villages, I have found over the years that these people as you have already said are tough people. I think because they have suffered hardships in their past makes most of them more friendly and very much more genuine. The character of the buildings and the architecture is amazing. I would visit the cities but reside in the villages.

I saw that Sibiu is the hometown of the current president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. He is a Transylvanian German and was the mayor of Sibiu for 14 years. He has been Romania's president for 7 years but in that time has seen a dozen prime ministers come and go. Things not too stable in the Romanian parliament, it would seem. Historically Sibiu was more of a German city, although not now, and it shows in the old city, from what we could see. When you said 'Sibu' instead of 'Sibiu', you made me think of Sibu in Sarawak in Malaysia here, not Cebu in the central Philippines. Sibu is quite a large city with quite a few churches also, but of course looks nothing like Sibiu. And it's never cold (so more to your current liking, Steve). I can't believe Steve is the same person who frolicked in snow storms in alpine Pakistan just a few months ago!!!

When it comes to cold, just imagine doing all that hard work in a village during the winter, or having to travel to a hospital from the middle of nowhere. Since you were in Fundata (county of Brasov), the lowest temperature recorded was also in another small town in Brasov county and it was -38°C. Living in a village is a tough life. I think the church you saw it was in Fagaras if I'm not mistaken, and I think you missed Fagaras citadel that was nearby and it's a very beautiful place imo. Nice video, but most importantly continue to have fun and stay safe!

Shame that you gave up on Brasov but as you can see the weather got bad in pretty much all of Romania, which is VERY unusual for this time of the year. It's been a weird year. We've had 7 degrees Celsius until June. JUNE!! That's not normal. And now we have late October/November temperatures at the end of August and beginning of September? Never in my 28 years have I seen this here. It's usually very hot this time of the year until early to mid October. Oh well, maybe next year...Brasov and surroundings are a MUST! Also, what you see at 3:34 is an amazing inn called "Fantanita Haiducului". I spent a night there with my family on a road trip in 2013. The rooms are nice but the real star is their food, especially the all you can eat buffet breakfast that is INCLUDED in the stay. It was magical, they had EVERYTHING on a huge table, and it was great quality (and quantity). Toast, sausages, eggs, cold cuts, cheese, salads and spreads, jams, coffee, milk, fresh juice, cereal too if I remember right. Totally knew how to treat their guests generously. I wonder if it's the same today...

Babushka is in Russian in Romanian is babă if you want to talk with lake of respect but I don't recomand you do. The polite way to call an old lady is buy calling her "tanti" that means aunty or calling her "doamnă" that means Ms and if your really close like you have a close relationship you can call her "mătușă" that means literally aunt. Lots of old Romanian that don't know English know Russian or Franch since there theach in schools. PS: In Romania temperature can get to -15 Celsius in winter so 15 Celsius is an ok temperature to work. The medium temperature in a year in Romania ia 11 degreas Celsius. In summer it can get to 40 Celsius and in winter like -20 Celsius but winds blow very hard sometimes at 80-100 km/h so in winter you can sense the cold like is -40 Celsius. But don't worry I didn't see a hard winter since I was a kid like 20 years ago in the last two decades winter's tend to be a lot more hot then usually. That's a sign of global warming.

They're saying Prince Charles (and therefore his mum, our sovereign lady, Queen Elizabeth II -and Steve's sovereign too ) is a descendant of Vlad III Dracula, the Impaler. Others think a descendant of Vlad II. The descent is through Princess Mary of Teck, the missus of King George V and so Queen Elizabeth's grandma. Queen Mary was a granddaughter of a countess from Mureş county, Romania. There is, I think, a bit of a resemblance between the Impaler and Prince Charles, do you agree?

Corvins' Castle is where Vlad Tepes actually stayed for 4 years. He was a prisoner there, the legends say that that's what made him so cruel and in those years he kept planning in his head how he's gonna save Romania from the Turks, by barbaric measures 😉. (Not sure if you're talking about the Corvins' Castle from Hunedoara, but probably yes, gave this comment when beginning to watch your video) L.E.: If I see correctly, your car's plate number was BNE, which stand for "BINE" which means "GOOD", so you had luck all around you 😝.
