Roni stopped by our campsite in Galax, Va at the Old Fiddler's Convention. We had a lot fun playing with her. She is a great banjo picker. She is a hoot to be around. Full of life, having fun, and making people smile.... smile? not really.. more like laughing so hard your gut hurts!!!!!!! It was a great couple of hours. Thanks Roni for sharing your amazing talent and personality with us. You are welcome anytime and we will have the hot dogs ready for you.

So pleased I got to see Roni live at the Nashville Palace in May '96 while on a business trip from Australia. I'll never forget she did a fabulous banjo solo with a completely deadpan face! Great to see and hear her again on this clip! John.

Lovely! Nothing around in today's music can come even close to this. I wish my banjo playing was as good as Roni's!

I love Roni Stoneman she came off stage a couple years in Galax and handed me her banjo “HOLD THIS HONEY!” lol. Well to me that’s like touching Louis Armstrong’s horn or something, it was a thrill. (That sucker is heavy as heck.) She and Donna signed all my records too they are the best and they still play the heck out of their instruments, just a fantastic set.

Several years ago,Roni gave a plaster bust of an Indian that she had painted. I still have it and it is one of my prized possessions. She also gave my brother David the pair of bib overalls that she wore on the TV show Hee Haw. One night, my deceased wife and I took Roni’s daughter to the movies to see Apollo 13. Over the years, I have drawn several portraits of the Stonemans, giving the drawings to Roni, her sister Donna, and their late brother Van. What a wonderful family! I think I have all of their albums except possibly the one they did for Disney.
