Matthew Hynds yeah true, though the no part would be that not every child prodigy gets a chance to become anything. For a kid to have a chance to get into sport (music, acting etc) professionally they have to have parents or guardians that take notice, parents or guardians that spend money on what they need, and/or parents or guardians to go with their kids while travelling or be able to take them to training. (etc) Prob is time and money are not gifts that parents can always give. So then we have many peeps that will never make it, or never realise their full potential, and even many that will never know what potential they may have even had...
@MultiWalrus1

Icydsting Obviously it helps to have parents that are going to go to unusual lengths to get their children involved in whatever it is from a very young age. Look at the Mayweather boxing dynasty... it’s no accident that Floyd became the perfect boxer. He had the combined input of some of the greatest boxing minds in his own family, plus great genetics.

I don't like him. I don't find his personality really rotten. All the really great players (just for example take someone like Selby) have a big ego - you can't be really good at something without having an ego so I'm not having a go at it from that, but he just comes across as an arrogant bellend to me.

people are just really sensitive of someone showing a bit too much of personality and maybe going against the norm. same people would love him if he was a robot that never said or did anything but all these snooker videos would have 150k views instead of 1,5mil

@@412752ful I respect that you dont like him. But remember how exciting the 1975-1989 era was with Alex Higgins, Werb, Jimmy, all the quirky guys doing trick shots, drinking, smoking etc, and then it became the clear cut 1990s with clean Jimmy, Hendry as stiff as could be, Ebdon types etc. Only Ronnie and maybe Hunter/Hahn/Drago had real personality and Ron had that sheer x-factor with the fast breaks, the drama, the wounded soul who was this untapped genius etc. With a murderer abscent dad, lots of obuse problems and still being able to win a lot, bar the Worlds which took him NINE YEARS to nail the first one, then another 9 just to get the 3rd one, was still wild. I remember how we all though Ron was gone from the game in about 2009 and became this IDGAF person till he nailed 2012 and kinda retired, but said he would defend the title at least. So he did, won again and regained passion for the game then and the this-will-never-happen happened and he won TWO more. So much Hollywood and his current attitude is much much better than he early antics against Hendry, his struggles against slow players, his hate against the governing bodies in 2009-2012 and then a return to well-i-just-wanna-enjoy-this and boom, bar the judge episode in the 2022 final and the talks about younger players needing to practice more (which was true, SFs in 2022 = 3 of 3 class of 1992 was there), he has not been all that arrogant/confrontational imho.

Something I've always noticed is Ronnie doesn't bring his cue straight back, stop, then deliver it forwards, he goes back in one smooth motions lift the back end of the cue up and then delivers the actions forwards, its all one smooth motion, his arm almost never stops moving, it hard to see but if you slow it down youll see it. His arm is almost like the piston in an engine.

I don't agree that Ronnie under achieved, if he was playing a more intense game he would have burned out after a short period of time, just like Hendry and Davis who won most of their major titles is a short span, a modern example of that is Mark Selby, when he is at his best he is unbeatable but he can't keep that high level for long, Ronnie however relies more on his skills rather than intensity and has a 3 decade record of winning majors - this is unprecedented.
@C--A

Ronnie for his talent has definitely underachieved. He's thrown away a good dozen or more tournaments away that he might of won because of his bad mental attitude at the time 👍🏾 Even O'sullivan himself has said he has underachieved especially in the World Snooker Championships. Tiger Woods, Messi, Federer to name just a few sportsmen who are once in a lifetime talents in their sport's. It is a shame O'sullivan's manic depression has hindered his career. He really should have won at least 10 World Snooker Championships by now. And with only 5 he will forever be known as the most naturally talented Snooker player while Hendry will be known as the greatest because he won 7 World Snooker Championships.

Not potting that black (1:55 - 2:20), I believe is an expression of Ronnie O'Sullivans will and wish to focus on the joy of playing rather than the formalities and circumstances. For the sake of the game. As a musician (amateur) I recognise this. You play better when you focus on the here and now, in both music and snooker. And to me, snooker is like music in slow motion, somehow. I love it. And like Jimi Hendrix - and Stephen Hentry - Ronnie O'Sullivan plays, well, well! So well it is a bit like dancing. It is very elegant. The Rocket plays like a soft, Viennese Waltz. And it makes the game seem as easy as one. Go on, Ronnie! Number eight is out, and you're making the game greater again! Thanks!
