@scudfarcus4343

@@ShaqTheBossThat's for a full length platform scale. The one shown is not a platform scale. It's called an axle scale. Many axle scales are on a slight incline, so, you need to have your brakes on, or you'll roll off the scale. The reason CAT Scale tells you to release your brakes is because they guarantee the weight to be accurate, and releasing your brakes on a CAT scale (because of the way it's configured) will give the most accurate weight, and the scale is completely level so that the truck won't roll when the brakes are released. Back in the old days, axle scales were the norm because of limited budgets and space. What this driver is doing is the best way to do it because he is setting only his drive axle brakes, leaving the trailer brakes off, which will give the best scale results.

@@deannederhoff i drive for over 20 years in tight road europe. I didn't say he did anything wrong. I only said that when someone does somthing its is automatically correct bc he drives a truck. And it isn't automatically correct bc someone said so. Ppl make mistakes even after a long time doing the same thing. I never had 1 exedent in those 20 years, a few close calls, but never one. Trucks here in europe can brake almost the same as a normal car (the stopping distance is just 0.5m longer) and that is with 116.000lbs on 5 axles. Most of the times you dont want to tho bc of your load. Last wednesday i had to do a emergency brake action downhill when i got cut off. I loaded a almost liquid product in a dump trailer (completely normal) with this product i always keep more space in front of me but some dickhead though he could use it. I stopped in time without any problems other then my load going over the trailer. I losed 2000lbs of my load. I called roadcontrol and they cleaned it. A semi fully or empty have the same stopping distance. At least the EU trucks. We have to do courses to keep our license, and 1 of them is braking course (safe braking and antisipating) and they asked us witch of 2 trucks was loaded after they did a braketest. Most were wrong and said they had the same wheight, they didn't. 1 was 117.000lbs and 1 was 32.000lbs (empty wheight) they stopped exactly at the same spot. They said its bc a loaded semi has more downsforce and therefore has more grip. A empty trailer goes in to ABS quicker and therefore doesn't brake slower or faster. I knew that a loaded trailer brakes good but i thought there would be some kind of difference, but nop😅 Btw I'm sorry if i do make some mistakes writing all this down but English is not my first language

What I have learned over time is people who have been driving for a long time are very condescending patronizing sarcastic and anal when it comes to new drivers. I'm less interested in a rookie making a mistake. I'd like to see how the veteran coached them through the mistake. I cut meat for a living. An old wise butcher once told me 2 keys things 1) our customer 99% of time will not know you made a mistake, that's why they're asking you to do it for them (and I like to add this wasn't out of carelessness or being lazy, he was just trying to get me comfortable cutting with the customer watching, us butcher strive for 100% accuracy) 2) he said "being the veteran, I'm only as good as my worse man" That's called accountability
