Roosevelt-Jackson
is a sometimes heard short name for the transit hub comprising the local bus terminal, Flushing Line and the Queensboro IND stations in Jackson Heights, Queens at Roosevelt Avenue. Having lived near 82nd Street station from 1986 to 1992 this place was one of several stations I have had the pleasure of calling a 'home station'. The others were Main St (1962 to 1984), Queens and Queensboro Plaza (1984 to 1986), 14th and 7th, 6th and 8th (1992 to 2004) and 71 Ave (2004 to present), This is actually the second of two videos featuring the Victor Moore Arcade bus terminal Owned privately as a commercial building, the owner was granted a franchise to operate a bus terminal by the NYC Board of Estimate. Triboro Coach bus routes operated out of there. It was one of a kind (besides the 165th Street terminal in Jamaica and the Flushing North Shore Bus Terminal closed in the 1950s). This is some of my last remaining Hi-8 and DV self shot camcorder video awaiting upload to KZitem. As I started production, I didn't have a particular song in mind. I like to hear the natural audio of a scene, but generic subway and el clatter gets old pretty quick. I started scanning dozens of songs on easy listening playlists. Within five seconds of hearing 1975s Good Company by Simon Park & Gary Grant, I knew I had something. I soon realized there were five killer tunes all neatly packaged together from a CD of 22 'Jazzy Gems' for 'before the world falls apart'. The color slides are mine and date from the early 1980s.
