Here's the thing: the energy and passion that Candice brings to these interviews is second-to-none and you can tell the immediate effect it has on the designers: knowing that they are free to be just as energetic and nerdy and invested in what is going on. These vids really make my day.

Once again, this interview was a real pleasure - brilliant job, Candice. Cole Wehrle is always a very fascinating person to have a conversation with, you just give him a topic and just leave him fir the next 20 minutes or so :) It is always great to hear about the design process, though, so thank you for doing this - designers like Cole are a real treasure, as you know for a fact they will come up with something unique. Cole’s games are certainly not going to appeal to everyone, but I believe the board gaming community is richer for having people like him. So ... Matt Leacock next, maybe? :) Unless it’s too much, of course, but I’d love to hear how the design process for the Pandemic Legacy series went. Ignacy Trzewiczek is also a very interesting person to talk to (and also very talkative), and there are many more, I’m certain. Shem Philips would be an interesting person to talk to as well, I suppose.

Writing Rules IS certainly part of creating the "engines", and personally, one of my favorite steps! Loved to hear this knowledgeable man talk about his game.

Excellent video. When he walked about play testing, brought back memories. You did a great job getting him going and feeding him energy to get good stuff.

Came here wondering if Redwall had any part in inspiring Root, was not disappointed. The first time I learned about the game, the different factions in particular, I thought, "That really sounds like Mossflower!"

Note: fyi...Root may be similar to a counter insurgency "game/simulation", but most hard core grognards will not consider Root a "war" game. Me? If the game is good, it doesn't really matter what type you call it or how you define the game. Good fun. Good rules. Good game parts. Success. Note: about me. I am first most of all a war gamer two sides trying to wipe the other side out No negotiations just combat and destroy the opposing forces

You definitely succeeded in drawing in my group to an aggressive game with the cute presentation. We likely would never have picked it up if not for the presentation and wouldn't feel as free to play aggressively.

6 minutes in. I was not going to get this game even though it looks so interesting because of all the expansions I've been trying to stay away from games with expansions there's such big money sinkholes can you say: Yu-Gi-Oh, magic the gathering, X-Wing...think I'm going to have to get Root. Heck I haven't bought a game this month so....
