did you ever figure out what specific variety of opuntia they are? There are many species of it, I have several. Im not sure if its Ficus Indica or something else. If you still have them, can you do a follow up video? A picture with the flowers would be ideal. TY!

Sweet, but Opuntia is the easiest to root. If not cut, they still root. Roots also come out of green skin area. If you lay flat, roots will come out all through one side. Crazy.

Would the prepped nopales grow? The ones with thrones removed 🤔 I'm thinking of getting one and letting all cuts callous before potting on it's side

No, the shoots would come from the same place the spines come from.

Hey bro. What is the difference between nopales and pitayas? I'll go check out your other videos, but I've never seen pitayas in person. I only found out about pitayas through a Mexican youtuber.

The Pitayo (stenocereus )is a columnar cactus 🌵 that grows 5-8 metres (about 16-26 feet) gives out a fruit called Pitaya and The Nopal (Opuntia) has cactus pads that give out a fruit called Tuna - Prickly Pear

Well maybe not everyone has the luck you have to have tons of prickly pear around them . If everyone had tons of edible prickly pears around them the supermarket will take them off the shelves don’t you think? Not all prickly pears taste the same obviously the supermarket going to put better quality then what some people have around their house

I believe most of the commercial prickly pears are from opuntia indica. I have one growing from seed at the moment. But all opuntias grow fruit.

most farmed cacti are ficus indica, in the south west they farm opuntia engelmanii for the fruit and jam for local supermarkets and such. but most places ficus indica is the species of both the pads and fruit. so yes you'll get the big ones.
