I agree, she did an excellent job with this song. It's really not an easy song to sing, lots of note/chord changes and the construction of the song is unusual. Townes was a genius in the way he wrote this song. The listener can't help but feel the emotion in this tune. Each singer has their own vision of interpretation which affects how the lyrics are sung, where the singer places more stress on a particular word or does a small note change. This is the beauty of this song in my opinion, it was written from the heart and can be sung from the heart, however the heart chooses to go. Pure genius of writing, a beautiful rendition by Roseanne Cash.

Found Emmylou Harris singing this song this evening and followed with different versions by numerous Talents. Saw this by Ms. Cash and wanted to hear her sing it and it turns out to be my favorite even better than Willie and Merle. I fell in love with Ms. Cash when I heard her sing "Seven Year Itch." I was stationed at Fort Irwin, California in the Mojave Desert and head over heels in love with a Young Lady of another Race and we were both too weak to follow Our Hearts. I've been married now for 31years with a lovely family and hopefully the same happened with her. Got to listen to this one over-and-over. GOD BLESS!!!

"Seven Year Itch" or "Seven Year Ache"? Yes, I realise it was just a slip, but it's an excuse for me to post this ... kzitem.info/news/bejne/zp9_131vgKOdbII

This one is far, far better than Willie and Merle's. Theirs is perhaps the worst of the well known versions. Townes, then Emmylou, then Roseanne Cash IMHO. You could say she is first by those who need two names. :)
